[2020] Possible Found Exploit with Backfire

I recently found a possible exploit with the new smg the backfire, when you generate stacks and reload you are supposed to get a bleed debuff and i found that if you swap weapons as you are reloading (and hear the click of the mag) it will reload the gun but not apply the debuff to you allowing you to use the buff and not suffer the punishment.
Please let me know if this is actually an exploit or if it is an intended feature of the gun.
