First off: Thank you Massive for putting the accessibility features I'm going to whine about in the game. It does mean alot to people who need them. I cannot stress this enough: Thanks!

But yeah, this stuff could also use alot of improvements. Let me start by explaining my situation.

I have this eye condition called RP. Basically I am very slowly going blind. When I was 17 years old a doctor told me I would be very lucky if I would be able to see around the time I'm 40. I'm 35 at the moment.

While my eyesight obviously isn't very good, I'm a very long way from being blind. I still play games, watch movies, hell... I love playing games. I'm also not bad at them at all compared to others.

The biggest problems I face in games are small fonts and weird color schemes. Dark mode is my friend. Dark backgrounds, light fonts. For example: The UI of the Dark Souls games are perfect for me. Big, clear light fonts on dark backgrounds.

Nier: Automata has a terrible UI for me, with that light background and thin black font. Great game tho btw.

So anyway, I never played the Division 1 but as I love the idea of lootershooters (that word :( ) and people are really positive about Div2 I took the plunge and bought it.

I can play it fine. I can see my crosshair(most of the time), enemies and their healthbars without any problems at all. The people I play with know of my condition and they understand why I never walk in front of our squad.

And yeah, the game is great fun. I'm really enjoying myself while playing. However, there are some problems... And the biggest one is all these transparent menu's.

  1. You have this option in the game to turn on High Contrast menus. This removes the transparent effect from the menu and puts a black box behind the menu text. Only it doesn't work at all in the main game. Yeah, it works for the games' settings menu, but why not for all menus? It would be SO perfect to have this black backdrop behind my gear, behind projects, behind EVERYTHING. I don't care if it looks ugly, I just want to be able to read stuff without having to have my character stand in a spot where she is facing a dark texture. Because yeah... That's what I do now, I actually need to find a spot in a level/safe zone with a dark wall so I can check my gear.
  2. UI customization. Wow, I can move and resize everything! Oh wait, not everything. But hey! I can resize one of the most important things in the UI: The minimap! Oh wait, it can't be resized beyond a certain point because the mission objective text is tied to the same frame, and it actually moves INTO the minimap. I mean wtf... That's kinda dumb right? Didn't anyone test this feature?
  3. Also, while we're talking about the minimap... Please add an option to have it not be transparent, thanks. I should probably put this on no. 1, actually.
  4. And while we're still talking about the minimap... Could you please add an option to make it NOT rotate? Most games that rely on a minimap have this option, it rocks!

So yeah. Thanks again regardless for putting in all these accessibility features. While I don't use them, the colorblind options are great too!

I realize I am a very, very small minority and I am entitled to exactly nothing... But to me it seems all these features are already kinda in the game, just not very well executed.

Will do, cheers!

Done! Thanks for the tweet. Sorry to hear about your eyes :( My MS symptoms didn't present as optic neuritis but it's something I know a lot of people have to deal with but I did have a while where I couldn't game without a controller since my hands were struggling to work properly. I'll always push as hard as I can for things like this.
