[2020] Aaron Keener Bug + how to avoid it

So today I was doing the Liberty Island mission of WONY, and encountered a really annoying bug:
During the finale, after I took down Aaron Keener (or rather, reduced his HP to 0), he didn't EMP me and run off to the pier like he was supposed to.
Instead he just got stuck sitting behind cover with 0 hp, preventing me from proceeding with the mission (more accurately, I got yelled at by Kelso to not let him escape, at which point you should go to the pier to finish off keener. However, I couldn't interact with the door leading to the pier).
At this point I tried to find a solution on how to 'fix' this bug on google, but didn't find a fix, only more people having encountered the same bug - which is the reason why I am posting this, so that other people don't have to deal with this issue:
After killing myslef over and over again, just to 'kill' keener again and get the same bug every time I found out that the bug is apparently triggered by using certain skills during the fight (in my case it was the jammer Pulse. Restorer hive was fine though). After beating him using only a MMR and my Restorer Hive the bug didn't show up and I was able to finish the mission

TL;DL: If Keener gets stuck at 0 HP kill yourself to restart the fight, and beat him without using certain skills (i.e. Jammer Pulse).
