When I try to stream Twitch to my Chromecast from my Android app, it only loads a black screen on the Chromecast. It was working fine this morning, but suddenly won't stream. I can still control the volume through the app on the black screen though. YouTube and screen mirroring still work fine, and the app only updated 4 days ago.

I tried it on my Chromecast 4k, Smart TV Chromecast, tried clearing cache/storage and reinstalling the app, tried rebooting the Chromecast, tried rebooting my phone.

I've never had a problem like this before, has anyone else experienced this?

Hi, Twitch staff here. This is a known issue and we're investigating possible causes.

Update: Fixes are propagating and we hope that all clients are fixed by 2:30pm PT.

I bet it’s the new ads feature…

No, it's an infrastructure issue. Not related to any product changes.

Then how come yesterday, for the first time ever, an ad showed while streaming on chromecast? Soon after that “historical moment” this issue happened.

I don't have an answer for that, but I can confirm this is unrelated to ads.

Is it expected to be fixed today or no timeline?

We're actively working on it but no timeline yet.
