An Update on Genesis Part 2 As we gear-up for the epic conclusion of ARK: Survival Evolved’s storyline with ARK: Genesis Part 2, we’re checking in with the community on its progress. Near the beginning of this year, the studio transitioned to working remotely. Introducing Tropeognathus!

Common Name: Tropeo
Species: Tropeognathus mesembrinus
Time: Cretaceous
Diet: Piscivore
Temperament: Neutral

Up close, Tropeognathus mesembrinus is easily recognized by the keeled crests on its snout, but with wingspans of up to twenty-seven feet, you’re sure to spot it before then. 

These large wings are not only ideal for catching air currents over its ocean hunting grounds, but they also let Tropeognathus draft off of other flying creatures by flying behind them. While not the fastest flyer on the Isles, when combined with its remarkable stamina, this makes Tropeognathus well suited for long distance flight.

Much has happened since our last edition of the Patch Notes Round-Up. Since then, we've launched Genesis: Part 1 and introduced several improvements and bug fixes that have been circulating in the community. With close to 300 improvements, changes, and tweaks since the release of Genesis, we figure it might be a good time to summarize them and get you caught up to speed!

General - Completed a full pass on Loot Crates to improve loot variation and quality - Unofficials can now use flying creatures by adding the following setting to your GameUserSettings.ini under the [ServerSettings] section: bForceCanRideFliers=True - Building is now enabled in mission areas by default on Unofficial Servers (no longer need to use the aforementioned ini to change it) - Increased the reliability of repairing glitches - Ad... Eggcellent Adventure 5

Beginning Tuesday, April 7th until April 21st, survivors will be able to experience our annual Eggcellent Adventure event on PC, Xbox, and PS4! While much of the world is at home, we wanted to give you some new adventures to hunt down. During Eggcellent Adventure 5, survivors will be able to collect special "Bunny Eggs" across the ARK from wild Bunny Dodo's. These Bunny Eggs can be painted or used in special Cooking Pot recipes to craft new holiday-themed item skins such as the Spear and C4 skin, as well as 10 returning skins.

Similar to past Eggcellent Adventure events, Bunny Oviraptor's will drop festive Dino Candy. Collect the candy and feed it to your tames for a special festive effect! To top it all off, wild creatures roaming the ARKs will also find themselves sporting some eggcellen... Read more

We'd like to give a big thanks to the community for all the support you've shown during the Genesis launch! We've seen some amazing community content and enjoy hearing your experiences in the simulation.

We have a busy summer coming up! Last week we announced the addition of a new map, Crystal Isles, and a new TLC patch coming this summer. Click here to read about the plans for Summer 2020.

In the meantime, we have a number of tweaks we'll be deploying to Genesis in the form of bug fixes and quality of life enhancements over the coming months. We are planning for a patch Wednesday to address some of the more immediate issues following the Genesis launch.

We are very excited to announce that the one-of-a-kind experience of the ISO: Crystal Isles map will be coming to PC, XBOX, and PlayStation this Summer!

Crystal Isles is a stunning, other-worldly map filled with a vibrant display of teeming life scattered amidst its varied landscapes, awe inspiring floating islands and breathtaking biomes. Ever since Crystal Isles launched as a mod in 2016, its fantasy appeal has secured its place as one of the most popular maps within the ARK community and we can't wait to bring it to players as a fully supported free DLC.

Anti-Mesh System Enhancements

Last week we deployed upgrades to the anti-mesh system that significantly reduced the amount of meshing that is occurring on the Official Network. It’s been instrumental in creating a fair playing experience and decreasing the amount of meshing, as we are seeing an overall 90% reduction. We truly believe, with your help, we’ll be able to move the needle to 99%!



The first iteration of the anti-mesh system only included detection which enabled us to collect critical data needed to upgrade the system to take action on those who were identified to be meshing. Love is in the air! We know you love events and we love providing new experiences for ARK survivors. For Valentines Day 5, we'll be introducing new content similar to Winter Wonderland where we saw the introduction of Chibi's.

In addition to existing content you'd expect from past Valentine's Day events, we'll be introducing new content to collect. Our pint-sized chibi friends were such a welcome addition we've decided to reintroduce them for this event! You'll be able to collect the 54 chibi's from the past event, in addition to 5 new chibi pets.

Patch Notes Round-Up

As we near the launch of Genesis and a new year of ARK content, the current state of the game and the topics that are trending in the community remain essential to us. While we are excited to introduce new content and experiences to ARK survivors, it's important to take a brief moment and recap some significant updates that have made an impact on the current state of the game.

Developers that are working on Live Ops updates have a different priority and focus than that of those working on new content. The main focus of these updates is to ensure that you have an enjoyable and fair playing experience with current game content. As you might imagine, it is a constant process of observing, investigating, adjusting, interacting, updating, reporting, resolving, and repeating the cycle.

Winter Wonderland will be returning for the fourth time on Tuesday with all new presents for ARK survivors. The winter-themed holiday event begins tomorrow at 10am PST for PC, XBOX, and PS4 and will last until Tuesday, January 7th. All maps will receive Winter Wonderland and all its content including RaptorClaus and GachaClaus, however, only The Island will have a visual winter theme.

One of our most notable helpers, RaptorClaus, will be back to drop off holiday gifts filled with loot, event items, mistletoe, and lumps of coal for all those naughty survivors. You'll be able to catch RaptorClaus flying across the skies at midnight (game time) on all maps.
