Hi everyone,

It's that time of the week again so lets jump right in!

Audio Occlusion

We have begun adding Audio Occlusion to certain groups of sound effects. Occlusion is the effect on the sound when obstructed by objects in the game world, reducing volume and high frequencies. Currently we have applied occlusion to weapons, vehicles and certain character sounds and foley. At present, Buildings and Landscapes all obstruct sounds. As we refine this feature we will apply the settings to more sound effects and potentially more objects within the game world.

As we continue to develop the soundscape we try to revisit the sounds that we and the community feel are lacking behind. For this update we have chosen to re-design 6 of our current weapons. These include: M1 Garand, Browning M1919, M1903 Springfield, MP40, STG and MG42. We have also re-designed the reload sounds for the M1 Garand, MP40 and STG. This will bring these weapons in line with the ... Read more

Name Plate Occlusion

Again we have been very busy this week with works on Update 11, we are steadily moving closer and closer towards our goals, and while we still have things to complete, all departments are working full steam ahead. We’re eager to unveil the curtain on some of the larger changes coming as they reach their polishing stages.

We are also very excited about the launch of Hell Let Loose on NextGen consoles which took place on the 5th. We have been very humbled by the results we have seen with such awesome community feedback. To stay up to date on all things console make sure to follow us on our socials and jump into the Discord.

Today's mention on the development front focuses on ‘Nameplate Occlusion’. ‘Nameplate Occlusion’ is when a name plate is hidden by an obstacle. Think of deploying out into the field at the start of a round and seeing all the names and icons of other players filling your screen as you roll out.

U11 The Road Ahead

Progress on Update 11 has been coming along nicely with work well underway on some highly anticipated additions. While many of these additions are not quite in a state we feel ready to showcase, we do have some things to share this week.

But first we want to give an honourable mention to our Community Manager Jonno, who is sadly leaving his role with us as a HLL CM, after 6 years at Team17. We have had the pleasure to share this journey with him and we feel we speak for the community when we say that he’ll be deeply missed. Join us in thanking Jonno for his service to HLL and the entire community.

We are also very excited about launching on NextGen consoles on the 5th. To stay up to date on all things console make sure to follow us on our socials and jump into the Discord.

Patch 16 Post Patch Rundown

It has been a very busy few weeks culminating in the much awaited release of the latest patch. P16 was focused strongly on ‘optimisation’ and we have been very humbled by the community receiving it so well.

The good news here is that work is still ongoing regarding optimisation, and we continue to look at ways to improve the overall performance of HLL. We are pleased to be moving in the right direction with each and every update we make, and we strive to make the Hell Let Loose experience even better in the future.

Patch 16 came with a number of anticipated QOL changes highlighted by the Community and we will be continuing this pattern to improve the core experience of HLL as updates and patches are released.

Meanwhile please continue to use the Discord feedback channels as a way to share issues and bugs you may experience, the team look at this on a daily basis, so thanks to those who give concise feedback to hel... Read more

Hey everyone,

Welcome to Dev Brief #144!

This week comes bearing great news as we announce the Patch 16 release, extended playtime for PS5 Beta participants and a sneak peek at an upcoming addition to the German armour lineup.

Patch 16 Inbound!
Work is nearing an end as we’re in the final stages of internal testing for Patch 16 which brings a number of QOL changes and large improvements to optimization for both Stalingrad and game-wide experiences. We are very happy with the progress and think you will all find it well worth the wait when it deploys next week on Tuesday the 14th!

The overall optimization process has been quite involved and we decided that a slight extension of coding and testing was warranted to ensure the best performance possible. During this period we were also able to identify additional in-game QOL issues that while we had HLL on the workbench we also looked to address.

With Patch 16 being wrapped ... Read more

Hi everyone!

After a few weeks of rigorous PTE testing with a heavy focus on performance and optimisation we want to thank the community for your patience, support and feedback during this time.

We are currently doing our sign-off of our latest build, for the patch to be dropped within the next two weeks. Along with other bug fixing, we have seen some very promising performance increases across the board, but especially in Stalingrad where there is potential for more improvements.

We would like to extend a heartfelt thanks to all of the community that took the time to join in the PTE environment and help us test. We are hopeful that you will all see the fruits of these efforts when the patch drops.

You may also have noticed that the Developer Briefings have been a little bit shorter the last few weeks, as we have been very busy working on Improvements for the upcoming patch. Moving forward we are excited to show and discuss in more detail some great... Read more
