Howdo, I’m CCP Cemetery (Davy), and I’m the producer for our launcher team. If you’re unhappy with the recent update, or our messaging surrounding it then please accept my apologies.

To shed a little light on how our lack of advanced communication came to pass. While we knew that our latest update was not going to be compatible with Linux, with our available data we didn’t expect to inconvenience that many people at the time due to the majority of the Linux community making use of older launcher builds or Proton. This coupled with the fact that our Linux community are quite resilient and are often capable of adapting and solving issues when they arise, along with the fact that Linux is an unsupported platform, lead us to believe that messaging wouldn’t be required for this update. Howdo, todays launcher update improved the security and fundamental mechanics of how we handle and store tokens locally on Windows & macOS.

This change does not work on Linux, and we have no current plans to support it due to Linux not being a supported operating system by CCP at this time.

The animations have been removed, apologies for any inconvenience.

Comment

This is correct, the issue only applies to users who do not use hardware rendering, as such I’m suggesting to enable hardware rendering to resolve this issue, until such time as we have removed the animations.

Comment

We’ll look into reverting the animation in the morning. In the meantime enabling hardware rendering in the settings menu & restarting the launcher will significantly reduce CPU load.

Howdo, I see you mentioned that the launcher is broken but you don’t provide specific details. Have you been in touch with our support team to resolve the issue or can you provide more details on the issue? As we’d really love to know more if there’s an issue.

Howdo, we have an open defect on this issue and are looking into it, however in the mean time does the following workaround help?

On windows when the launcher is not running, delete (or rename) opengl32sw.dll in the “C:\EVE\Launcher” directory.

Howdo, just checking in to see if anyone in this thread has been in touch with our support team on this issue? As they may be able to provide direct assistance, and failing that can work with you to acquire the necessary logs and system information that can allow us to troubleshoot and deploy a fix for the issue.

Please get in touch with our GM’s or bump old tickets so we can get as much information as possible.

Cheers,
Your friendly neighbourhood launcher team.
