Thank you for sharing your thoughts Ovyx.

I agree, those import/export options in the fitting management window should definitely be moved out of that menu back into the window.

You also make a good point about the difficulty of collapsing windows that have tabs in the header. You can actually click in-between the individual tabs as well, but that’s a rather small click target. I’m going to see if we can’t come up with something to help with this situation, maybe add an option to collapse the window from the window control menu.

I’d love to hear any other specific suggestions or feedback you may have.

We are indeed addressing some of those points in the next update.

Windows in compact mode will be getting their minimize and close buttons visible at the top-level again. We experimented with placing the window controls in a sub-menu in order to give windows such as chat more room for tabs. However, it’s been pretty clear from the feedback that this is detrimental to usability, so we’re reverting back to the old setup.

Scrollbars are getting a visual overhaul as well. They will now have a visible track to better indicate the extent of the scroll area, and the handle no longer expands in a funky way when you hover the mouse over it.

Content area separation is something that we are aware of as in need of some improvement. In the upcoming update we added better feedback when interacting with resize handles, and we added some separation lines in a few places, but it’s something that’s still in on our to-do list to improve further.

Thank you, by the way, for t...

Hey Theiene, thanks a lot for trying out Photon and pointing these issues out to us. I did actually read this thread back when it was created and it prompted me to immediately fix the bookmark color issues back then. However, the issue where bookmarks don’t appear in the separate location group windows fell between the cracks and didn’t show up again on my issue tracker until very recently. I hope you’ll be happy to hear that this issue will finally be fixed in the upcoming December release. o7

Thanks so much for the constructive feedback! I agree, that window is super useful and right now we’re not doing a very good job advertising that it even exists. In an attempt to make it more visible to players we decided to try and merge the local locations window with the regular locations window. This was done by adding an option to the window’s top-right menu that allows you to flip between seeing all locations and only local ones. However, that option is clearly not easy to find or as useful as the standalone window, so we’re going to make some changes to how this works.

Instead, we’re going to add a new top-level group/folder to the locations window which only lists locations in the current system. That group will also have a button that allows you to open that group in a standalone window.

Thank you very much for the detailed write-up Vero Null. I’m happy to hear that you like the direction we’re going with Photon UI and you’ve brought up many good points and suggestions for improvement that we’ll take into consideration.

It’s also good to see that some of the topics we’ve been discussing internally are mirrored in your feedback as well. For example, just before the weekend we were discussing the background noise and how we hadn’t taken a good look at it again since it was introduced very early on in the project, so your feedback is pertinent for that discussion.

Out of curiosity, what settings did you end up with in terms of font size and UI scale?
