What’s better: One gift, or a bunch of gifts?
Yeah. We thought so too.
Today we’re releasing a few exciting things to enhance everyone’s Destiny 2 experience. Whether you’re a seasoned Guardian or a New Light, this is a great time to explore the world of Destiny.
Kicking off the free updates are the next-gen optimizations originally announced during the launch of Beyond Light. These start with cross-play functionality that enables Xbox One owners to play with Xbox Series X|S owners and PlayStation 4 owners to play with PlayStation 5 owners. Guardians are immediately able to journey to Europa with everyone upgrading to next gen.
Additionally, the new consoles tap into their cutting-edge hardware to vastly improve load times throughout Destiny 2. Everything from launching the game to opening menu screens and navigating through inventory became snappier and more responsive.
The optimizations arriving today bring even more to the ... Read more

This week at Bungie, we launched Beyond Light.

No more waiting, Beyond Light has arrived! There was some turbulence at the start, but our team of experts worked the problem and remained vigilant in making sure Guardians were ushered through the queue and could safely touch down on Europa.
Millions of Guardians have answered Variks’ distress call and began to explore the icy moon. Secrets have been discovered, enemies have been vanquished, your quest for Exotic loot has begun. Whether you have already finished the campaign or are still eagerly awaiting for your chance to hop in for the first time this weekend, there is still a lot of great Destiny content ahead of you!
Speaking of new content, we just unveiled a new trailer for Season of the Hunt and a Season pag... Read more

This week at Bungie, there is just a lot going on right now.

What a week. It started out with a brand new ViDoc showcasing Bungie developers giving you a behind-the-scenes look at what we’ve been cooking up from home. Now we’ll pause the TWAB for 15 minutes so you can go watch it in all its glory. Even if you already watched it, go watch it again. Don’t worry, we’ll wait on you.

That was your first look into Season of the Hunt, as well as a deeper dive into Beyond Light, Stasis, New Light, and our plans for Year 4. We also mentioned that ... Read more

Watch as developers share a deeper look into our plans for Year 4 with Beyond Light, Stasis, and Season of the Hunt.

Destiny 2: Beyond Light kicks off on November 10 with Guardians traveling to Europa to investigate the threats, mysteries, and power residing there. Season of the Hunt also begins on November 10 -- you will be able to start earning ranks and rewards from the Season Pass, claim your Artifact, and begin to customize it as you power it up. This Season’s story mission and new Wrathborn Hunts activity will kick off the following week on Nov 17.
Starting with Season of the Hunt, most of the Seasonal content and all of the sweet gear will be sticking around for all of year 4. We hope this alleviates some of the FOMO that has been present with past Seasons. Now you can jump back in and experience past Seasons’ story, activities, and loot anytime during year 4.
Here is a look at the calendar for Beyond Light and Season ... Read more

Our focus this week is one of the spectacular artists from our community. His work is iconic and his style is instantly recognizable. We wanted to hear more about how he creates these unique depictions of Destiny characters and gear.

Please meet Pesty.
Hi! Ok, why don't you start by sharing a little about yourself?
Pesty: Hey! My names Ian, but most people know me as Pesty or by my online handle IanPesty. Art and Gaming has always been a constant in my life. From a childhood full of drawings and playing on the earliest versions of home computers and gaming consoles, to studying Visual Art at University, then on to a career in the games industry as a Concept Artist and Art Director.
I first got into Destiny when I purchased my PlayStation 3, around the same time as The Dark Below [was released], but it wasn’t until the lead up to the release of Rise of Iron that I began creating Destiny-themed artwor...

This week at Bungie, we’re summoning some ghosts.

Next week, we’re getting spooky up in the Tower again. Festival of the Lost returns on October 6 for more fright-filled fun. This year’s festival is going to rock!

Check out our Festival of the Lost 2020 page for a quick look at what to expect during this year’s event.
Eva Levante, or as you all affectionately call her “Space Grandma,” has returned to the Tower to lead Guardians in a celebration of those we’ve lost. We miss you, Cayde.
The Haunted Forest is back and filled with ghoulish enemies. This year, we’ve added five chests to the end of the activity for five times the loot!

Our focus this week is on a community-created site that boasts tons of features to help you keep track of Destiny’s armor, weapons, Triumphs, and so much more. We recently worked with them and some other API creators to put together a checklist of the Triumphs you should complete before the end of the Season. They’ve been amazing at finding creative ways to utilize the magic of the API to create cool features for the community.
Please meet light.gg.
Tell us a little bit about yourself and your role in the Destiny community.

1. GENERATIONS

Music. Under a streaked sky painted in the glowing wreckage of the Almighty, the people of the Last City rejoice. Debris burns through clouds and explodes like fireworks high above. Those who remember the Red War peer upward with cautious hope. The Warmind had done as Commander Zavala said it would, and now the Traveler—a great shield beneath a torrent—turns away any remaining danger from the fallout. Fragments of the sun-eating hulk that would have struck it instead cascade off its wide dome of Light and skip into the distance.

Under the watch of Titans posted at the borders of every district, children run laughing through the streets with wooden rifles. Their imagination transforms the stone walkways into Warmind bunker tunnels; homes and side streets allow them to access terminals, duck behind cover, and use offshoot ventilation shafts for quick flanking maneuvers. Rufus, a large black neighborhood hound, bounces through the horde of chil... Read more

This week at Bungie, it’s time to go get your titles.
We are well into the final week of Solstice of Heroes. Finish upgrading your armor before the event ends with the weekly reset on September 8. If you still need time to finish any of the objectives required to unlock the white glows, you can continue to knock those out even after the event is over.

This week at Bungie, we are sharing more details on the DCV.
Back in June, we introduced the concept of the Destiny Content Vault (DCV), an approach to evolving the game that will allow us to add new content, bring back some of Destiny’s greatest hits from the past, and support Destiny 2 for years to come.
As a quick refresher, when Year 4 kicks off on November 10th, Io, Titan, Mars, Mercury, and Leviathan will all enter the Destiny Content Vault to make room for Cosmodrome’s return and Europa’s debut.
Since announcing the DCV, we know there have been a lot of questions about what’s going away and how game systems will evolve to reflect the more dynamic nature of Destiny 2’s future.
Most questions are answered by this rule of thumb, “When a destination goes into the DCV, so too do its PvE activities and associated rewards.” But there are some edge cases and w... Read more

This week at Bungie, we're getting ready for Solstice of Heroes.

Once again, it’s time for the annual tradition of honoring Guardians and your great accomplishments. Our free summer event, Solstice of Heroes, starts next week on August 11.

The European Aerial Zone is back and full of Hive, Cabal, and Fallen enemies for you to dispatch. Defeat as many of the bosses as you can in a fireteam of three and then hunt for chests that are hidden away around the floating island. The more bosses you take down, the more rewards you will earn.

Armor

This year, we have a new approach to Solstice of Heroes armor that we think is going to give you far more flexibility on how you show off your Solstice-ness.
Similar to previous years, you will start with a Rare set and upgrade it into a Majestic Legendary set. Once you have al... Read more

This week at Bungie, we drew a thin line between light and dark.

Today, we had some exciting news to share on the Xbox Games Showcase. Bungie and Xbox announced that they are joining forces to bring Destiny 2 to Xbox Game Pass this fall.
With an active Xbox Game Pass subscription, players will have access to the standard edition (seasonal content sold separately) of each expansion beginning with Forsaken and Shadowkeep (available September 2020) and Beyond Light (available beginning on November 10, 2020).
Later this year we will be releasing a version of Destiny 2 that will be optimized for Xbox Series X, including 4K resolution and running at 60 frames per second. Players who already own Destiny 2 on Xbox One will be able to transfer their game to Xbox Series X for free via Smart Delivery.
In addition, for Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscribers, Destiny 2 can also be streamed to your Android mobile devices via x... Read more

Our focus this week is someone who has been a part of the Destiny community since the beginning. Alongside her friends and clanmates, she enjoys playing Crucible, raiding, and everything in between. She keeps the mood chill in her stream and concentrates on enjoying the good times.
Please meet Chibikim.
Welcome! Please tell us a little bit about yourself and what first got you into gaming.
Chibikim: My name is Chibikim (or Chibi as my friends call me), and I’m from Chicago, Illinois. When I’m not watching anime, bad movies, or gardening, you’ll find me playing Destiny with friends on PC or console. What first got me into gaming was playing Super Mario Bros. for the first time with my sister on the Nintendo as a kid. Chrono Trigger for the SNES is still my personal favorite.

When I got into college, I got more involved in RPGs and playing a lot of fighting games such as Street Fighter. I w...

This week at Bungie, the Season had more arrivals.

The Pyramid ships have continued to arrive across the system. Along with Io, they now loom above Titan, Mercury, and Mars, with unknown intent. Guardians have continued to aid Eris in making contact through the new public event which is now located on Titan. There is also a new Exotic weapon quest available. Here is a peek if you haven’t already set out to claim it.

The timing of Pyramid reinforcements was impeccable, showing up on Bungie Day no less. No matter –the festivities went on. Bungie Day is a celebration of you, the community. And once again, we use this totally made up holiday as a reminder of how thankful we are to get to create worlds that inspire friendship.

This week at Bungie, we pause to reflect.

Before we talk about the game, we are going to talk about the incredibly important conversation that is taking place online and the events that lead to it. Many courageous women have come forward with stories of  harassment and abuse. There has been a lot of pain laid bare in story after story told by these survivors.
Some of us have not experienced this pain first-hand and can’t truly understand it. Yet, there are many people in our community feeling empathy, sadness, and anger when confronted with the truly awful harassment and abuse that so many of our friends have had to endure. Sadly, this wasn’t isolated to our corner of the world and has also affected men and non-binary folks as well. In the days that followed the initial revelations, we witnessed more people who have been similarly affected coming forward. This is a bigger issue that the entire gaming industry needs to face. Together, we can take action ... Read more

This week at Bungie, we launched a whole bunch of missiles.

It’s been an action packed week. Over the weekend, we watched as Rasputin sent literal ordnance into the sky to take down the Almighty in Destiny 2’s first live in-game event. We followed that up with a mighty salvo of virtual launches in the form of media, articles, and a stream to showcase the future of Destiny. Season of Arrivals has started building a bridge to this fall, when Guardians will wield the Darkness for the first time in Destiny 2: Beyond Light.
Here’s the full stream in case you haven’t had a chance to watch yet.

Don’t have time to watch the full stream? Here are a couple of the first looks at Destiny 2: Beyond Light.

We’re excited about the future of Destiny. To lay the groundwork, we have to make some changes to the core game. Several less-explored locations and activities will be going into the Dest... Read more
