Thanks for this comment. That was a good clue that it happens still with voicelines only. There is a bug where LFE sounds are not being adjusted with the SFX volume slider. We will fix this in the next patch. For now, you can set the set the volumes all back up to 100 for SFX, VO, and Music, then turn down the game with the Master Volume slider.

Hey there,

Thanks for reaching out about this! We are trying something new with Echo. Let me explain:

5.1 or 2.1 sound systems have a .1 channel that is known as the LFE (low frequency effect) channel. Sounds can specifically be sent to this channel to increase the bass for a given sound. We have been experimenting with adding LFE specific sounds to Echo so this is what you are hearing. The LFE sounds for Echo are mostly limited to when you are playing as her, except for her explosions. There is a bug here - your friendly Echo should not be making these sounds on her explosions. We will fix in the next patch.

It sounds like your subwoofer speaker volume just might be too loud. One clue is that you said having the bass management on causes the bass too be too loud. Bass Management is designed to take bass frequencies that your small speakers can’t reproduce and send it to the subwoofer, which is more capable of reproducing those frequencies.

I wou...

This normally indicates your audio settings are set up for surround sound, but you are listening back in stereo. Please check your windows sound settings.

Hi there, thanks to your post we have been able to track down a bug with our occlusion system. This is the system that muffles sounds when they are behind walls. Your example was very easy to reproduce and we found the bug that was introduced while optimizing the system for the Switch release. The calculations were wrong and we were muffling sounds much more than was intended.

This fix is now on our PTR and will come to the live game with the 1.45 patch.

The sound issues that have been reported was due to the new spatial audio feature. We are going to disable this for now to work out the issues we have seen.

Thank you for the report. The video was especially helpful at getting to the root of the problem.

Hey Everyone, we have a fix for this internally and hope to push it out with our next patch.

In the meantime, there is a workaround. Reset your user volume sliders back to 100 and turn the game down using the Windows volume mixer in the Windows sound options.

Thank you all for bringing the issue to our attention.

The newest 1.31 PTR has Windows Spatial Audio re-enabled. Please keep the feedback coming on this feature. These reports have been extremely valuable for us.

The problem we encountered was with the in-game Master Volume sound setting. If you turned down your master volume lower than 100, it would throw off the balance of the audio. 2d sounds would be quiet and 3d sounds would be loud.

We have now turned off the Windows Spatial Audio for this patch. We really appreciate the help testing, and we hope to bring it back to PTR at a later date.

Thanks everyone!

Hey there, thanks for the review. Are you using Windows Sonic or Dolby Atmos for Headphones in your spatial audio settings?
