I had been working as software engineer for a couple of years. A post showed up on Reddit, and I responded to it. /u/xNymia, a former Rioter, showed the post to the person who would eventually become my team lead and manager. They invited me to interview with them for a position as an application security engineer. The rest is history.
In general, we don't require degrees to work at Riot. However, if you're trying to get a new position specifically in a place where you require visa sponsorship, a degree is almost certainly required because of immigration laws.
Best decision I ever made.

Isn’t roller derby basically speed skating with some MMA in between?
Eeeh, nah more like Speed Skating with a touch of Rugby.
There's no punching, elbowing, kicking, grappling etc. Mostly just hip and shoulder checks. though when youre going at speed those can do some damage.
And its much more of a sport now, less fishnets... xD
