We did a update for the backend today, and the steam-cloud somehow went missing.
We have updated it and the setting is back again.
So if you cannot see your character(s) or worlds. Logout your steam account and log back in again. It's the fastest way to re-enable it.
You might also be successful if you clear your steam cache. but logout/login should be the fastest way.
