As a UI (user-interface) designer myself, I am tired of constantly tired of hitting 'sign-out & exit' every time I try to quit the game. Every user-interface designer should know the right button is the main button and the button that people will click majority of the time. NOT the left. Left is often the alternative option or cancel. It's a simple fix, but user experience stuff like this needs to be addressed.

A few options:

- 'exit' button is a filled button, 'sign-out & exit' is outlined

- or if not above, make the two button more distinguishable, and or swap the buttons

Appreciate the feedback! You're right on about the color. It was my intention to tone down the sign out button but I ran out of time before the patch locked. I'm planning on having it ready for the next one.

That said, I disagree that "the right button is the main button" is a universal standard. As you know, button layout depends a lot on context and platform. Many confirmation dialogs place the primary/likely action on the left because of reading direction and a few other factors.

Taking a quick glance, these all feature [PRIMARY] [SECONDARY] button layouts for their dialogs:

  • Windows
  • Steam
  • Fortnite
  • Chrome
  • CSGO
  • Apex Legends
  • League of Legends

Now, most of these have a cancel action on the right, which is a lot less destructive than the sign out we have in Valorant. Nonetheless, my expectation is that most players will want to exit without signing out, which is why it's in that left "primary" location.

Some games/software do indeed place the primary action on the right (Overwatch comes to mind), while others lay out the options in a top-to-bottom stack, like Siege and MW.

Hopefully the color adjustments I mentioned help prevent any future misclicks, but we'll keep an eye on it regardless because signing out accidentally is annoying. (I have some other improvements in mind too, but they'll take time to iron out.)

Ironically, several of our dialogs on Valorant are [CANCEL] [CONFIRM], which is an inconsistency we'll address. We still have a lot of post-beta cleanup to do.

I'm a UI patterns nerd so conversations like these are fun! Thanks for bringing it up.
