In this recent article they interview someone at riot responsible for the AI anti cheat called "Vanguard" who said

According to Chamberlain, players found to be cheating on Valorant will be punished. These punishments, however, are not yet fully defined. "This can always change, but my current thinking is that all accounts that we identify using tricks are permanently suspended. In addition, we would like to temporarily prohibit this computer from running the game, precisely to discourage the user from creating a new account

however they didn't say how many time.

The AI anti cheat seems a Automatic Overwatch (From csgo)

Part of the anti-cheat effort will be made by an Artificial Intelligence system called Vanguard. This AI will monitor players and ban suspects. "The platform will act on all fronts, from the investigation to the banning of the user". Chamberlain also explains that the main cheats and hacks used in FPS games, such as aimbots and wallhacks, have already been studied and are on the radar of this AI. Thus, a user who always shoots enemies in the head or who can "predict" what happens outside their field of vision will be a potential suspect.

Hi, I'm sorry to resurrect a weeks-old discussion but I just wanted to suggest looking at requiring a passed-through graphics card and allowing in that case. Since League already does this there is precedent for it, and doing so would still completely cut off virtualized bot farms without a dedicated GPU per instance, which would quickly run out of space and skyrocket the cost of large-scale cheating.

If you'd like to see a counterargument for virtual machines, I wrote a more detailed post here about why I believe a blanket ban on all virtualization is not the right move here.

Anyway, I really hope you and your team reconsider this decision. I've been looking forward to the game since first announcement and I'll be quite disappointed if I am unable to play it.

Thanks for taking the time to interact with Reddit.

Thanks for the suggestion but we're not planning on supporting VMs even with GPU pass-through right now.

We may change our stance in the future if the amount of disruption caused by the restriction becomes larger than the security gains but for now we don't have any plans to support virtual machines.

As more and more videos will surface of cheats in Valorant https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ATkpqYmWt8k please reconsider what I said about shadowbanning. Bans of accounts and hardware will never work. If you keep cheaters in a cheater pool and allow them to play against each other they will stay on those accounts as they can play instead of being forced to a new account.

Off topic but I've been sent this video so many times that I now recognize its URL without clicking!

I'm going to discuss shadow banning with the team again but I don't think it'll end up high on our list of things to build.

Hi, I just found this.

I prefer my VM setup with GPU Passthrough much more than dual booting. So far I invested too much time in getting the Vanguard service to stop crashing, so I will setup a dual boot configuration.

However, if you guys decide to allow VMs, how could I find about it? Is there a tech blog or something I can subscribe to?

We have a tech blog: https://technology.riotgames.com/ (I have an article coming out here this week)

For something as directly relevant to the game as VM support we'd likely mention it in our patch notes and/or put it in an article on the game site.

Hi! I'm not sure if you are replying to this old thread anymore, but will there be something like CSGO's Overwatch once ranked comes out? I think once a player reached a certain rank or experience with the game a player should be allowed to see a report and watch and dictate a ban and if the player (who is "overwatching") continuously makes a false positive then this privilege can be removed. This could possibly be applied to live games such as a case where a player reports the enemy, the "overwatcher" is given the option to watch the game live. This would seem like a cool idea and I'm just wondering if you would implement this? (Sorry for being a long post and I hope you see this and have a good week!)

I definitely like CSGO's Overwatch system!

We're hoping to build something like it but it won't be ready for the launch of our ranked mode and will have to wait until we've built a replay system.

Hi, I have a question for you, i do not know if anyone asked this, and i cant seem to log into valorant forums, it says i do not have permission but the game works fine, anywho

I copied a script to use it too simple toggle run/walk, i really wish this game had it but it doesnt. its an AutoHotKey script. and this is it if you are curious.

CapsLock::

KeyDown := !KeyDown

If KeyDown

SendInput {n down}

Else

SendInput {n up}

Return

__________________________________________________________________________________________

I heard people can use AHK for recoil stuff, and im not a real scripter, and have no intention of ever using anything like that, its simply for a feature that should already be in the game(i think). i found this only for another game someone used. I am just curious if I will eventually get banned for using this, I mean it does make my life easier not having to hold run or walk for the entire game.

thanks

-Nick

We're not banning for the use of AutoHotKey right now with the exception of blatant cheatery like pixelbot/recoil control scripts.

If we change our stance on this in the future we'll make sure everyone hears about it!

(also standard disclaimer we can't offer support for third party software or guarantee that it works with Valorant)

Hi Arkem, what can users do if they receive a ban for a false positive? I recently was flagged for "malicious behavior" for which I believe is a false positive on the system, but am unsure how to diagnose it from my side, gather proof, or work with support to unban my account.

If you submit a support ticket we'll review it! Please be patient though our support team is getting a lot of requests right now.

I have a question, do you know how i got false banned? I submitted a ticket and they told me that i wrote scripts and that is why i got banned. Now i don't know how to write scripts and what scripts. So it must've been something else. Maybe it's vanguard being oversensitive? Or maybe there is some sort of virus on my pc.

I can't tell you for your specific case but sometimes a detection method has false positives. The most common source of false positives are cheats from other games (which we generally don't want to ban for) but sometimes we make mistakes.

Usually if we make mistakes or deploy a too aggressive detection we try to fix accounts immediately without waiting for the player to submit a ticket but there's a chance that something goes wrong with that process.

If you think you've been banned falsely I recommend another support ticket, usually a second support ticket isn't helpful but during this beta when we're still figuring out our processes and procedures sometimes tickets get answered incorrectly.

Hey friend, sorry you're having a bad time.

You can't be banned for rendering an animation while playing Valorant, something else is going on.

If you submit a support ticket they might be able to help you but I understand if you don't want to play anymore.
