So I was curious about just how long it would take to hit level 50 on the battle pass so I decided to do the math out. It's all documented on this excel sheet. You can use the sheet to calculate whether you'll complete the battle pass.
It includes fields for how many games you play per week and what percentage of missions you complete among other variables. You can make a copy to use it and I'll add any features people suggest within reason to the source.
Here's the summary though:
- 1,372,000 XP is needed to get to level 50.
- If you start today with a two month long battle pass, that's 171,500 XP per week.
- Completing every weekly and daily mission yields ~56,500 XP per week.
- With that in mind, it takes roughly 28 games of unrated per week in order to just barely get level 50. This assumes the average match is 13-8 and a 50% win/loss. This is also assuming you don't miss a single mission for 2 months straight.
- That represents 21 hrs of valorant per week.
- 3 hours per day for 60 days straight no stops no breaks.
Now let's say you take a week to get into Valorant or you happen to not play for 7 days cause you have a life outside of Valorant, 34 unrated games are required per week for 25.5 hrs per week. Two weeks off and its 41 games/week for 31 hrs/week and etc etc.
This amount of commitment just to unlock stuff you already paid for is insane. If you're not going to grind the living sh*t out of Valorant AND starting immediately, then you won't get through the majority of the pass.
TL;DR: If you plan to have a life outside of Valorant, don't buy the battle pass.
Caveat: If the upper tiers of the pass don't follow the same xp/level pattern, it mildly alleviates the problem. It doesn't seem to, and even then it's a huge amount of XP. E: Xp/level confirmed to keep growing at least to lv 27.
Edit: It’s confirmed ~two months here.
Also, I wanna point out that the game is 10/10 IMO and the riot communication has been the best I’ve ever seen from game devs. I made this post partly because of that.
