A couple days ago I got back to Diamond 1 for the first time in several months, mostly putting up slightly above average performances (like maybe 18-15 or something). But my last ~fifteen games have all been high diamond/immortal lobbies, which started when I hit plat 3. Like I said, it's not like I've been having a good run of form or anything, I've just gradually ranked up over a few weeks while playing decent, so it's not like the system is detecting me as a smurf or anything. I've been fortunate enough to hold my own in these lobbies well enough, but what is going on with this?

Remember that everyone is on their own ranked journey!

Some players at higher ranks are on their way down, you are on your way up, and some people have reached the rank they belong at and are grinding to improve. Our match maker tries to make fair matches, first and foremost, then bases the RR gains/losses off where it thinks you belong. That's why you get more per a win and less per a loss, when paired against higher ranked/skill opponents. But it also works in reverse, if you start to underperform the system will keep testing you and trying to figure out where you belong, and eventually push you down.

It sounds like your climbing! Good job on reaching diamond and hope the rest of your ranked grind goes well!
