The map rotation is already pseudo-random (Patch 1.08 afaik), just that because of the way statistics work, and probably the simplistic way they implemented pseudo-random map selection, you still can get long strings of the same map.

^ We try to avoid duplicates when possible, but when you have 10 people going into a match together it can be difficult. This comes up in our internal talks every once and a while, especially when we see feedback about getting duplicates. It gets better as we add more maps, but we may need to look at how it's functioning in the future.
These questions are so cherry-picked. They basically answered one question since 5 stacking is possible for 98% of the player base and the last question is irrelevant. How about fixing the smurf problems or updating the competitive matchmaking? Smurfs would easily be fixable by requiring you to validate your main account by linking it to a phone number and that would probably already help matching people with similar skills if there are no silvers with plat MMR.
We actually talked about our smurf investigation in a previous Ask Val.

Unfortunately smurfing is extremely complex, and so is any type of solution we would come up with. Even if we did land on "Lets SMS verify ranked" it would take time to implement. There are plenty of websites, and easy ways, to get around SMS. I'm not saying it wouldn't help, but whatever solutions we come up with we have to make sure they are the best solutions to spend our time on.
That's only one potential solution to Smurfing, which doesn't solve the whole problem and we may have a method that we believe would reduce smurfs more than SMS. We are definitely further along with our smurf investigation than when we posted that smurfing article, but we still have some time to go before we have solutions implemented.
I feel like Nirvana Fallacy is a very Riot Games thing.
You don't need to get rid of smurfing, just like 70% of smurfing and most people would be pretty happy.
I mean, I've only been at Riot 7 months, and with almost a decade of game dev I would say it hasn't substantially changed the way I work or think of game design.
We just want to make sure we get the best bang for our buck. Why would we implement SMS Verification if we have a different solution that takes less time to make while also having a better impact?
Again, I'm not saying we are or are not doing SMS, we just have to make sure we know our options, how long they take to implement, and the other side effects they may create from implementing them. I would argue it's just being smart about your decision-making process.
I've never said we can remove all smurfs, I don't think anyone on the team believes that. We agree that whatever we do will only reduce it, and we want to make sure that we choose the best solution.
If there was a verification type system, remember some players that aren't smurfs will be blocked by it.
If there is a system that targets smurfs, or tries to identify them, there is a chance for false positives.
We have to make sure that whatever we do the pros outweigh the cons.
