In this digest we would like to tell you about our continuing work on improvements and fixes in the game. You can find information about all updates that have been released in War Thunder in the website special section.

Get back!

Numerous vehicles have a few reverse transmissions, and we’ve added automatic transmissions in War Thunder to make controlling them more comfortable. Turns out, it didn’t work exactly as intended and could get in the way of your hasty retreat from a dangerous position. When moving directly backwards, the Automatic Transmission worked correctly, but if you tried to turn your vehicle, it changed to the first reverse transmission gear! An issue with reverse movement also arose if the wheels of your vehicle were completely turned to one side.

Now automatic transmission uses all the power of your vehicle — in several cases the speed of turning in reverse increased up to two times!

Weigh up!

Many players in mid ranks try to max out suspended weaponry of their aircraft. We found a way to make it more comfortable for them!

Now each weapon in the editor of the suspended weaponry will display its weight — as will the entire preset. You’ll be able to compare your current weight against the maximum — or check how much you’ve exceeded the limit if you did. Have fun experimenting with different sets of explosive cargo!

Fly high!

We’ve noticed that the air-to-surface missile AGM-65 can’t reach its maximum range unless it’s launched from a very high altitude. The reason was simple: to reach that range, the missile has to loft, and it just couldn’t. Well, we taught it its signature move!

Now, AIM-54 actually could loft, but there was a catch: when pulling up, it could hit the aircraft it was launched from. We fixed that, and increased seeker warm-up angles and guidance equipment operational time.

Autopilot of the L-UMTAS and Mokopa missiles weren’t functioning well enough on short and very long distances. It happened because they worked in relay mode, when the fins were constantly being switched from minimum to maximum, and the flight trajectory was determined by the time they spent in each position. Now the autopilot works in proportional mode, and that allows it to follow the set trajectory more precisely.

Lastly, we’ve almost doubled the maximum permissible overload of 9M331, the missile of the Torus. All listed missiles have received improvements to their dynamics and autopilot. Use them well!

That’s Not All

You’ll find the full list of improvements in the separate changelog — there are many interesting things there. Weapon selector no longer prevents the camera from following the falling bombs or torpedoes, the position of the propeller of the aircraft now stays the same regardless of your point of view, and the parameters of dropping bombs now longer apply to other helicopter weaponry.

Update 2.25.1.83
Ground vehicles
  • M60A2 — A bug with the explosion of the smoke grenades at high altitude above the tank has been fixed (report[community.gaijin.net]).
  • M18 GMC — A bug where AP shells might fly through the commander without causing damage has been fixed (report[community.gaijin.net]).
  • A bug that caused armoured vehicles with multiple reverse gears when using automatic transmission to reverse in first gear only has been fixed (report[forum.warthunder.ru]).
  • A bug that caused maximum reverse speed on wheeled vehicles to be unachievable if the wheels were turned to one side or another before moving has been fixed (report 1[forum.warthunder.ru], report 2[forum.warthunder.ru]).
  • “Vietnam” and “Breslau” locations — Some physical materials that could significantly slow down the movement of wheeled vehicles has been corrected (report[community.gaijin.net]).
Aircraft
  • AGM-65A, AGM-65B, AGM-65D — The autopilot and rocket dynamics have been redesigned. The loft manoeuvre mode has been added to the autopilot.
  • F-84F — A bug where HVAR missiles under the fuselage were consumed incorrectly has been fixed.
  • Lightning F.53 — A bug that made it possible to forcibly drop SNEB type 23 missile containers above the wings has been fixed.
  • Jaguar GR.1A — A bug that made it possible to forcibly drop AIM-9G missiles has been fixed.
  • A bug that caused the parameters of dropping bombs in series to apply to other helicopter weaponry has been fixed (report[community.gaijin.net]).
  • A bug that caused bomb/torpedo tracking not to work when the weapons selector was turned on after bombing has been fixed.
  • A bug where when using the default settings for the “Takeoff-Landing '' training prompted the instructor to raise the mouse up when taking off, which caused a nose over, has been fixed.
  • A bug when switching to premium piston aircraft in the hangar where the engine propeller might change the position has been fixed.
  • A bug that caused the position of the propeller blades to be different when viewed from the c*ckpit and from 3rd person view has been fixed.
Interface
  • Display of the current and maximum allowed mass has been added to the suspended weaponry edit window. Also displaying the mass for each pod has been added to the drop-down suspended weaponry menu.
Other Changes
  • The ability to move the NVIDIA ANSEL camera by using WASD has been restored (report[community.gaijin.net]).
  • VR — A bug that caused some objects like branches, trash and bricks in ground battles to be displayed only in the left eyepiece has been fixed.
The current provided changelog reflects the major changes within the game as part of this Update. Some updates, additions and fixes may not be listed in the provided notes. War Thunder is constantly improving and specific fixes may be implemented without the client being updated.
