In this digest we would like to tell you about our continuing work on improvements and fixes in the game. You can find information about all updates that have been released in War Thunder in the website special section.

Know the enemy by sight
Last time we talked a lot about the importance of protection analysis, a feature that allows you to learn the vulnerabilities of the vehicles in the game. However War Thunder is constantly growing and there are more and more vehicles in the game - the choice of virtual enemies is truly huge!

That’s why we have added the ability to search for threat vehicles by name to the protection analysis. Spend less time searching and more time simulating hits!


Ghost bridge
A curious situation happened on the “Alaska” map. One player told us in a report that after the destruction of the bridge from bombs he could freely drive on it - as if the bridge never disappeared!

However after investigating what happened we found out that the bombs didn’t matter at all! The bridge didn’t disappear - only its visual model vanished and only if some tank with bulldozer blade (for example T-80U) started digging under it.

Digging will no longer erase objects from reality - the ghost bridge will be a thing of the past.


Exceptional quality
You must have noticed that the game’s launcher offers you a lot of presets to select from - from minimal and standard installation to a selection of high-quality models of aircraft or ground vehicles.

In the Steam version of the game to install high quality models you need to add the corresponding free DLC pack to account first - but even if the player didn’t purchase them or if he disabled these DLC, the client itself set “Ultra quality of all models” and started downloading extra gigabytes. We have also fixed this bug.


That’s Not All You’ll find the full list of improvements in a separate patch note — there are lots of interesting things! The operation of the gearboxes in a number of ground vehicles, the operation of radar for aircraft have been corrected and shells with contact fuzes will now be correctly suspended on water.

  • M10 (France) — Crew models in US uniforms have been replaced with crew models in French uniforms.
  • M8 LAC (all modifications) — Gear ratio values have been adjusted (report[community.gaijin.net]).
  • Merkava Mk.1 — Gear ratio values have been adjusted and the total number of gears has been increased. Gearbox is changed to the gearbox used on the Merkava Mk.1B (report[community.gaijin.net]).
  • Turm III — Gear ratio values have been adjusted. Gearboxis changed to the gearbox used on the Leopard 1 (report[community.gaijin.net]).
  • 2S3М — Gear ratio values have been adjusted (report[community.gaijin.net]).
  • AUBL/74, FIAT 6614, AUBL/74 HVG — Gear ratio values have been adjusted and the total number of gears has been increased (report[old-forum.warthunder.com]).
  • Centurion Mk.1 — Values of reverse gear ratios have been corrected. Number of reverse gears has been changed from 1 to two. Reverse speed has been changed from 12 to 12.8 km/h. (report[old-forum.warthunder.com]).
  • Centurion Mk.3 (all modifications) — Values of reverse gear ratios have been corrected. Number of reverse gears has been changed from 1 to two. Reverse speed has been changed from 12 to 11.9 km/h. (report[old-forum.warthunder.com]).
  • Freccia — Vignette area in the gunner’s sight has been reduced (report[community.gaijin.net]).
  • Panther II — Erroneous formation of secondary fragments from outer side skirts (“Schürzen”) has been removed.
  • M1 KVT — Mudguard material has been changed from structural steel to rubber-fabric skirt.
  • Chi-Ha LG — A bug that caused the gun’s guidance speed to decrease after the batteries were discharged has been fixed (report[community.gaijin.net]).
  • Freccia — Missing thermal imager on the UAV has been fixed (report[community.gaijin.net]).
  • 105mm DTW2-105 shell — The mass has been changed from 3.79 to 3.775 kg (report[community.gaijin.net]).
  • 85mm O-365K, Type 56 shells — Muzzle velocity has been changed from 793 to 785 m/sec (report[community.gaijin.net]).
  • The designation of the О-243 shell has been corrected. New designation — О-240. Muzzle velocity has been changed from 343 to 335 m/sec. Weight has been changed from 2.15 to 2.14 kg (report[old-forum.warthunder.com]).
  • New type of the explosive has been added — JH-2 (China). Explosive type for the DTP-125 shell has been changed from RDX/TNT to JH-2 (report[community.gaijin.net]).
  • MGM-51 B/C — Type of explosives has been changed from TNT to Octol. source: “Shillelagh Information Booklet D-453”.
  • 105 mm Type 91 — Mass of the shell has been changed from 10.5 to 9.4 kg. Mass of explosives has been changed from 0.97 to 1.2 kg. Source: «予算執行事前審査等調書 (平成22年度第3四半期)».
  • 90 mm Granata da 90 — Muzzle velocity has been changed from 850 to 830 m/sec. Mass has been changed from 10.1 to 10.3 kg. Mass of the explosive has been changed from 1 to 0.871 kg.   • 90 mm Granata Perforante mod.43 — Mass has been changed from 11.1 to 11.25 kg. Mass of the explosive has been changed from 0.18 to 0.347 kg. Aircraft
  • Tornado F.3 - A bug that caused the radar to lock the targets at greater range than its designated range has been fixed.
  • A-4E Early - A bug that caused the wrong launcher type to be used for the AGM-12C has been fixed (report[community.gaijin.net]).
  • UH-1C XM-30 - A bug that caused the right 30mm XM140 cannon in X-Ray view to have the description from the M134 Minigun has been fixed.   • F-84B - Ballistic calculator for bombs (navigational bombing) has been added. Source: AN 01-65BJB-1 Handbook Flight Operating Instructions F-84B, F-84C and F-84D.
  • F9F-8 - A bug that made it impossible to copy a pre-installed weaponry preset of 114 FFAR missiles has been fixed (report[community.gaijin.net]).
  • F-16A MLU, F-16AJ - A bug that caused the AGM-65 guidance camera to be blocked when the aircraft was damaged has been fixed.
  • Su-22M3 - A bug that made it impossible to copy a pre-installed weaponry preset consisting of 8хFAB-500Sh has been fixed (report[community.gaijin.net]).
Armament
  • A bug that caused HE, HEAT, smoke and other shells with instant contact fuzes to not detonate on the surface of water has been fixed. The fix affects shells of ship and tank cannons and air cannons.
Graphical
  • A bug that caused the visual displaying of a bridge in the “Alaska” location to disappear after using bulldozer dumps underneath it has been fixed.
Interface
  • Ability to search for a threat vehicle by name has been added to the protection analysis.
  • Paragraphs for texts in the options tooltip in the squadron creation window have been removed.
  • A bug where the radio message wasn’t displayed to the sending squad has been fixed.
  • A bug that caused one team’s points to start dwindling for no reason, leading to premature termination of the aircraft SB game session has been fixed.
  • A bug that could cause the colour of allies in custom battles to not match the colour specified in the game settings has been fixed.
Missions
  • In “Seversk-13” missions, AA guns that were stationed too close to the landing strip of the airfield have been moved.
  • In the “[Conquest #2] Abandoned Town” mission, incorrect placement of the spawn point defence areas has been fixed.
Other fixes
  • An error that caused armament and ammo of other vehicles to be displayed in the mid-battle vehicle selection window preventing the player from respawning in the battle has been fixed.
The current provided changelog reflects the major changes within the game as part of this Update. Some updates, additions and fixes may not be listed in the provided notes. War Thunder is constantly improving and specific fixes may be implemented without the client being updated.
