The Mikoyan-and-Gurevich Design Bureau was one of the trailblazers of the jet age in the USSR. The MiG-9 was a decent aircraft all things considered, but as they wanted to make even faster planes, Soviet engineers decided to go with a swept wing instead of the conventional straight wing design – and so the MiG-15 was created: a fighter of the new type, which quickly made a name for itself thanks to its excellent characteristics.
