"Crappy", I would argue not. Situational, and requires a certain skillset/patience to use well? Yes.

If your goal is finding something that doesn't need special circumstance, and adapts well to most/all situations, the premium M46 Tiger would be an excellent alternative. I have one and like it a lot).
If you're looking for "that extra something" to add to your lineup for a laugh and the memes that you intend on using when the circumstances are right, I think you'd enjoy the CEV a lot.
