Changes to the attack UAV spawn:

The number of attack UAV spawn points has been reduced from two to one.

The spawn point is now positioned about 10 km distant from the battle area at 4 km height.

This balancing change allows players to counter the attack UAVs easier, without affecting a drone’s efficiency.

Attack UAVs feature a controversial set of characteristics that make balancing them difficult. On the one hand, powerful, long-range weapons and excellent optics. On the other hand, they are inferior in flight characteristics to the top-tier jet aircraft. A manned aircraft can evade anti-aircraft fire due to its flight capabilities, which the attack drone lacks. Therefore, the only way for the UAV to be effective is to stay out of range of fire or out of range of detection, and the initial spawn points were set considering these. However, the battle experience of the UAVs testified this method to be too toxic and provides drones with an excessively high efficiency, since after spawning at an altitude outside radar range, the drone can quickly attack any target, while the UAV itself can be detected only by a thermal imager.

To change this, we decided to move the attack drone spawn points as follows: the spawn point is moved further from the battlefield (about 10-11 km from the center of the tank battle area), the spawn height has also been reduced to 3-4 km. With this configuration of the spawn point, the attack UAV will appear on the screen of AA radars, however, outside the effective range of fire of most anti-aircraft missiles. At the same time, taking into account the range of the drone’s weapons, they will be able to shoot enemies on their team’s half of the map, if enemy SPAAGs operate from their respawn zone. If it is necessary to hit targets in the depths of defense, the drones will have to enter the enemy’s air defense zone, or spend time bypassing the radar detection zone.

All this should increase the time it takes to destroy ground vehicles, give the opposing team more information about the presence of drones in the air, and reduce their overall effectiveness. We will be closely monitoring changes in UAV efficiency and, if necessary, will make changes to their cost in respawn points.
