If War Thunder means more to you than Random Battles and Events, then you’re sure to be familiar with user mission functionality. The Firing Range, Normandy Landing, Tank Races – the list of already existing missions is broad and limited only by the imagination of community authors. These creations are placed on War Thunder LIVE.
But user missions have a peculiarity – they are launched on the player’s computer locally, i.e. they don’t require a connection to the server. This reduces load on the game servers, but limits the ability to participate in other players’ missions, which means that however fun a new user mission is, you’ll have to complete it alone. At least, until now.
Soon you’ll be able to complete missions side by side with your friends! We’re opening up to mission authors, and later to all players, the ability to launch their familiar user missions in the training ground!
How will it work?
We will start to introduce the mechanic beginning with a test phase in which authors who have earned the respect of players on the LIVE portal will have access to launch user missions. If you are an active mission author and have not yet received an invitation, but want to enter the testing team, just send us a message.
It will be easy for any player to take part in a scenario in a user mission – after the launch, all of them will appear in a general list in the training ground, indeed the first missions are already there!

A. When we are certain that they all work correctly. Want it faster? Put in an application via the link in the announcement.
Q. How many people can take part in one mission?
A. Up to 32 participants, and they can all be on one side (mission versus AI)

A. No. The classic training ground rules apply, where each player appears in the vehicle they selected.
Q. What’s the maximum mission length?
A. Currently up to 6 hours.
Q. Can we use AI infantry?
A. Infantry does not work in multiplayer.
Q. How many units can take part in a mission (AI)?
A. There’s a technical limitation of 100 units, but we recommend less to avoid causing problems for players with less powerful computers.
Q. Do these missions provide income? Are they saved in the player’s achievements?
A. No to both questions.
Q. Can I force players to leave my mission?
A. Again, the rules are the same as in the usual training ground – you won’t be able to do this. You can set a password on your room, though.
Q. Can participants join after the mission starts?
A. If you set the corresponding setting before the start of the mission, yes.
Q. Are there any special requirements for the missions?
A. As a minimum, team respawn points must be set, otherwise you won’t be able to go into battle.
Q. Can we create something similar to the mission for Victory Day?
A. Yes. The mechanics will be the same, but it will be quite difficult. We recommend practicing with PvP missions.
