World of Warcraft Version 10.1 PTR – Embers of Neltharion

This Public Test Realm (PTR) is a testing environment for the content coming with the Dragonflight Embers of Neltharion update.

Dragonflight Embers of Neltharion Update Development Notes

NEW ZONE: ZARALEK CAVERN

  • Zaralek Cavern world quests, objectives, rares, and dragonriding are available for testing.
  • The new underground zone is located on the eastern side of the Ohn’ahran Plains, just outside of Valdrakken. Players may access the zone by flying through the tunnel, leading to the new zone, Zaralek Cavern.
  • The Embers of Neltharion campaign is now available for testing.
  • World Bosses, Vakan and Gholna are now available for testing.

FYRAKK ASSAULTS

  • Fyrakk’s forces are gathering resources at Suffusion Camps located in the Azure Span and Ohn’ahran Plains. Disrupt their efforts to lure Fyrakk and his disciples out.

NEW RAID: ABERRUS, THE SHADOWED CRUCIBLE

Millennia ago, Neltharion carved deep places in the earth where he conducted world altering experiments. After his death, these sites were lost to time, until now. Forces seeking to claim the Earth-Warder’s legacy raid his dominion in search for powerful artifacts. Now the champions of Azeroth must venture into darkness and ensure the crucible’s dangerous power doesn’t fall into the wrong hands.

Aberrus, the Shadowed Crucible features nine boss encounters: Kazzara, the Hellforged, The Amalgamation Chamber, The Forgotten Experiments, Assault of the Zaqali, Rashok, the Elder, The Vigilant Steward, Zskarn, Magmorax, Echo of Neltharion, and Scalecommander Sarkareth.

CRUCIBLE CLASS ARMOR SETS

  • Death Knight, Havoc Demon Hunter, Druid, Mage, Brewmaster Monk, Holy Paladin, and Protection Paladin class armor sets are available for testing. Visit Setzertauren in Stormwind and Orgrimmar to pick up the sets.
  • Class armor set details can be found in the feedback thread. Please share bugs you find via the in-game bug reporting tool and your feedback about the bonuses in the feedback thread.

DRAGONFLIGHT SEASON 2

  • MYTHIC+
    • The remaining Dragonflight dungeons will enter the fray:
      • Brackenhide Hollow
      • Halls of Infusion
      • Uldaman: Legacy of Tyr
      • Neltharus
    • Four dungeons from past expansions will provide new challenges to keep the Mythic+ rotation fresh:
      • Freehold, Battle for Azeroth
      • The Underrot, Battle for Azeroth
      • Neltharion’s Lair, Legion
      • The Vortex Pinnacle, Cataclysm
        • The Vortex Pinnacle will be available for testing in a future PTR build.
    • Seasonal affixes are in development and will be available for testing in a future PTR build.
    • Dragonflight Season 2 Mythic+ testing begins on Thursday, March 16. Visit the feedback thread for details.
    • Neltharus
      • Warlord Sargha
        • Fixed the damage tuning on items found during the encounter.
    • Fixed an issue that gave players inconsistent item levels in Freehold, The Underrot, and Neltharion’s Lair.
    • The Vortex Pinnacle is available with this week’s Mythic+ test.
    • There are new affixes and adjusted affixes available for testing. Players can purchase scrolls from the keystone vendor to add to these to their keystone.
      • New Affix: Incorporeal – While in combat, incorporeal beings appear and attempt to destabilize players with spells that reduce their damage and healing done. Incorporeal beings are susceptible to all forms of crowd control.
      • New Affix: Afflicted – While in combat, Afflicted Souls appear that seek the aid of players. Afflicted Souls spawn with poison, curse, and disease afflictions. Removing any of these afflictions or restoring the spirit to full health causes it to despawn. Fail to remove their afflictions in time will inflict players with a negative status effect.
      • New Affix: Entangling – While in combat, entangling vines snare players.
      • Updated Affix: Explosive – Fewer Explosive Orbs spawn, but they now have substantially higher health.
    • The following affixes have been retired for Dragonflight Season 2:
      • Quaking
      • Grievous
      • Volcanic
    • We’re looking for feedback on keystone combinations:
      • Keystone Level 7 Affixes:
        • Spiteful
        • Sanguine
        • Bursting
        • Bolstering
        • Raging
      • Keystone Level 14 Affixes:
        • Incorporeal
        • Afflicted
        • Entangling
        • Explosive
        • Storming
      • Incorporeal affix is now immune to damage and has more consistent spawn behavior.
        • Developers’ note: The Incorporeal affix plays a similar role to Afflicted, but with emphasis on crowd control utility. A few things we’re hoping to smooth out include both the rate at which these spawn (sometimes too many at once), and the ease with which crowd control can be accidentally broken once applied. We are discussing a change to Incorporeal Beings that would cause them to fade away when combat with non-Incorporeal Beings has ended.
      • Afflicted affix now has less health and has more consistent spawn behavior.
        • Developers’ note: The Afflicted affix is meant to incentivize a greater focus on dispel utility, while also offering players with healing spells an alternative solution in cases where dispel availability is more limited or where other enemies have threatening dispellable abilities. This is mostly working out, but their health (especially at higher key levels) is a bit too high for healing to feel like a practical option.
      • New Affix: Entangling – While in combat, entangling vines snare players.
        • Developers’ note: We’re keeping an eye on the potency of the snare and required response from players to successful snap the vine with movement. We are also looking to improve visual clarity and audio cues for the Entangling affix.
      • Explosive affix now has less health and has more consistent spawn behavior.
        • Developers’ note: We’ve heard feedback both that explosives in their new form have too much health, and that in general it makes sense to try and ignore them, thus making them a “healer problem” in a different way than before. We are discussing a redesign for the Explosive affix to shift responsibility away from healers. The proposed change would cause Explosives to instead shield creatures for a percentage of the Explosive’s remaining health when its cast completes.
    • Developers’ note: In addition to the above, we are also discussing a change to the progression of affixes on keystones. With item rewards now increasing up to level 20, we’re evaluating which levels affixes are added to keystones. Our proposed change would delay when affixes are added to keystones. This is to give players more time to acclimate to baseline dungeons before additional mechanics come online, and to better match the complexity of a Mythic+ dungeon to the rewards it offers.
      • Keystone Level 7 Affixes (was 4):
        • Spiteful
        • Sanguine
        • Bursting
        • Bolstering
        • Raging
      • Keystone Level 14 Affixes (was 7):
        • Incorporeal
        • Afflicted
        • Entangling
        • Explosive
        • Storming

CROSS-FACTION GUILDS

  • Players who have been enjoying Cross-Faction Instances now have the ability to join the same guild as their opposite-faction friends and benefit from conveniences like shared chat and guild repairs.
  • Guilds are still affiliated with either the Horde or the Alliance, depending on the faction of the guild leader. Guild achievements and guild vendors, for example, will still reflect the guild’s primary faction. Opposite faction members may benefit from unlocked shared perks but may be unable to contribute to certain achievements (e.g. we would not expect Alliance members of a Horde guild to be able to contribute progress towards the “Alliance Slayer” guild achievement).
  • This is our first step of potentially several in publicly testing this long-awaited feature, so keep an eye out for updates and we look forward to reading your experiences in the feedback thread throughout the PTR cycle.

NEW UPGRADE SYSTEM

A new upgrade system will replace many of the various upgrade systems currently in place, such as Valor and Storm Gear, with a single system that covers most of the game. This system will last for the duration of Season Two, and after that we’ll evaluate how well it’s working and whether we want to keep it.

  • The basics of this system are simple: you’ll earn a new currency called Flightstones from just about anything you do— complete a world quest, kill a unique creature, run a Mythic Keystone dungeon, kill a raid boss, etc. You’ll also get items called Shadowflame Crests (or fragments of them), which come in four varieties from different content difficulty levels. Shadowflame Crests and their fragments will also come from a wide range of content, including outdoor gameplay, Mythic+ dungeons, and raids. You’ll be able to upgrade almost any item in Season Two’s max-level gameplay ecosystem, whether it comes from a World Quest or a Mythic raid boss, by spending Flightstones and Shadowflame Crests.
  • There are three categories of gear that are not part of this system. The first is crafted gear, which will be upgraded using recrafting, much the same as it’s done now. The other kind of gear not included in this upgrade system is PvP gear. PvP gearing will continue to work as it did in Dragonflight Season One. The final kind of gear not available for these upgrades is the very top end of gear. Anything that’s at an item level comparable to a Mythic Raid isn’t going to be upgradable. If you want the very best gear and get into the Hall of Fame for the new raid, you’ll still need to earn gear from drops, the same as you do now.
  • The most important thing to keep in mind is that everything here is optional. You don’t ever need to upgrade gear with this system. You’ll still see gear drop at the same rates. This system is meant to augment and supplement your gearing journey, not replace it.
  • For more details, take a look at the Developer Insights article on this new feature.
  • Discount cost tooltip added.

CHARACTERS

  • Added 4 new skin tones and 4 new hair colors for Dark Iron Dwarves.
  • Blind eye options have been moved from Eye Color to the new Eyesight customization option. Now all eye colors for all races can be customized to be blind.
  • Worgen (New Racial): Calm the Wolf – Activate to control your worgen instincts and automatically assume human form when you leave combat. Learned when players learn Two Forms.

CLASSES

  • Leech rating now gives 25% less Leech stat.
    • Developers’ note: Leech is proving to be a very strong sustain stat in Dragonflight. To keep it at an appropriate level of power, and avoid marginalizing the importance of the Healer role to a group’s survival, we are reducing the value of Leech rating by 25%. Leech percent granted by talents remains unchanged.
  • Developers’ note: We’ve decided to increase both player stamina and enemy damage by 25% in Embers of Neltharion. This is very much like an adjustment that was made just before the launch of Dragonflight, and it’s for the same reasons.

When damage mitigation abilities and healing are too strong relative to player health, the only way to threaten players is to make enemy damage very high and spiky. If healers can very quickly top off their teammates and mana isn’t a limiting factor, enemies have to be tuned to have the capacity to do burst damage that kills players before healers can react. That isn’t very satisfying gameplay. Increasing player health gives players more time to react to incoming damage, and it makes players’ choices about cooldowns and mana management more meaningful.

Along with this change, you’ll see several adjustments to hybrid healing spells, items, and enchantments, as well as percentage-based healing spells.
  • Player stamina increased by 25%, and enemy spell and melee damage increased by 25%, and self-healing and absorb shield spells for damage dealers and tanks have been increased by a commensurate amount, so that they retain their impact when solo or when supporting a group.
  • DEATH KNIGHT
    • Blood Draw healing increased by 25%.
    • Blood
      • Blood Plague healing increased by 25%.
      • Relish in Blood healing increased by 25%.

      • Aberrus, the Shadowed Crucible: 2-Set Bonus has been redesigned – Howling Blast damage increased by 20%. Consuming Rime increases the damage of your next Frostwyrm’s Fury by 5%, stacking 10 times. Pillar of Frost calls a Frostwyrm’s Fury at 40% effectiveness that cannot Freeze enemies.
      • Aberrus, the Shadowed Crucible: 4-Set Bonus has been redesigned – Frostwyrm’s Fury causes enemies hit to take 25% increased damage from your Critical Strikes for 12 seconds.
      • Vault of the Incarnates: 2-Set Bonus has been adjusted – Obliterate and Frostscythe critical strike damage is increased by 10% (was 15%).

      • Aberrus, the Shadowed Crucible: 4-Set Bonus has been adjusted – Frostwyrm’s Fury causes enemies hit to take 20% increased damage from your Critical Strikes (was 25%).
    • Unholy
      • Aberrus, the Shadowed Crucible: 2-Set Bonus has been redesigned – Death Coil and Epidemic damage increased by 10%. Casting Death Coil or Epidemic grants a stack of Master of Death, up to 20. Dark Transformation consumes Master of Death and grants 1% Mastery for each stack for 20 seconds.
      • Aberrus, the Shadowed Crucible: 4-Set Bonus has been redesigned – Army of the Dead grants 20 stacks of Master of Death. When Death Coil or Epidemic consumes Sudden Doom, gain 2 extra stacks of Master of Death and 10% Mastery for 6 seconds.
      • Aberrus, the Shadowed Crucible: 4-Set Bonus has been adjusted – Consuming Sudden Doom grants 1 extra stack of Master of Death (was 2 stacks).
      • Fixed an issue with Gargoyle stutter casting when the cast time of Gargoyle Strike was lower than 1 second.
      • Gargoyle Strike damage reduced by 8%.
        • Developers’ note: Now that Gargoyle properly casts without stuttering when falling below 1 second cast times, we are reducing the damage of Gargoyle Strike to counter the extra casts.
      • Reaping damage bonus increased to 30% (was 25%).
      • Festering Wound damage increased by 10%.

  • DRUID
    • Balance
      • Take a look at the developer’s notes in the Druid feedback thread.
      • Shooting Stars can no longer be triggered by Stellar Flare.
      • New Talent: Wild Surges – Your chance to critically strike with Wrath and Starfire is increased by 15% and they generate 2 additional Astral Power. This is a choice node with Stellar Flare.
      • Wrath and Starfire generate 10 Astral Power (was 8).
      • Moonfire and Sunfire generate 6 Astral Power (was 2).
      • Stellar Flare generates 10 Astral Power (was 8).
      • Nature’s Balance generates 2 Astral Power every 3 seconds (was 1 every 2 seconds).
      • Starsurge and Starfall damage increased by 20%.

      • Soul of the Forest now increases Starfire’s damage and Astral Power generation during Eclipse by 30% for each target hit beyond the first, up to 90% (was 150% bonus to Starfire’s area-of-effect damage)

      • Radiant Moonlight also increases Fury of Elune’s damage by 50% and now reduces its cooldown by 20 seconds (was 15 seconds).
      • Radiant Moonlight increases the damage dealt by New Moon, Half Moon, and Full Moon by 25%.
      • The second Moonfire cast by Twin Moons no longer generates Astral Power.
        • Developers’ note: With the increase in Moonfire Astral Power generation from 2 to 6 in Embers of Neltharion, this doubling of AP from Twin Moons is stronger than we intend. This change makes it consistent with Astral Power generated by Sunfire.
      • Developers’ note: We’re continuing to work to tune Balance’s damage composition and resource generation. Wrath and Starfire gained a lot of the Astral Power generation in 10.1, and we’re moving some of that increase into more passive sources to make Balance Druids a little more mobile. We’re giving Stellar Flare a boost to make it a valid option in low target scenarios. We’re reducing Rattle the Stars’ top end a little to bring it more in line with other talents and making it a little easier to maintain.
      • Wrath damage increased by 10%.
      • Stellar Flare damage increased 12%. Stellar Flare Astral Power generation increased to 12 (was 10).
      • Chance for Shooting Stars to fall increased by 15%.

    • Feral
      • Take a look at the developer’s notes in the Druid feedback thread.

      • Fixed an issue where Raging Fury was not extending the duration of Tiger’s Fury.
      • Updated descriptions of Pouncing Strikes and Bloodtalons to specify they increase the damage of your attacks for their full duration.
        • Developers’ note: This copies the language from Tiger’s Fury and distinguishes effects which snapshot their benefits at the time a damage over time spell is cast (Tiger’s Fury, Bloodtalons, Rake from Stealth) from those that only increase spell damage as long as they’re active (Sabertooth, new Berserk).
      • Bloodtalons now enhances your next 3 Rips or Ferocious Bites per activation (was 2).
      • Thrashing Claws bonus to Shred damage reduced to 8% (was 20%).

      • Aberrus, the Shadowed Crucible: 4-Set Bonus has been adjusted – When a Shadows of the Predator application resets stacks, you gain 5% increased Agility and you generate 1 combo point every 2 seconds for 8 seconds (was every 1.5 seconds for 6 seconds).
      • Regrowth healing increased by 50%. Does not affect PvP combat.
      • Swiftmend healing increased by 50%.
      • Rejuvenation healing increased by 25%.
      • Wild Growth healing increased by 25%.
      • Protector of the Pack’s maximum heal value increased by 25%.
      • Developers’ note: Feral damage is a little lower than we like after the shift of power away from Berserk: Frenzy and the Berserk redesign in Embers of Neltharion. We’re happy with the relative values of Feral’s builders, so we’re adding a bit more to their overall damage (with some extra for Lunar Inspiration). We’re also reversing some of the 10.0.5 damage reduction to Rip to increase its value in single target, but reducing the value of Tear Open Wounds to keep Rip’s contribution to AOE about the same.
      • Increase Shred, Rake, Swipe, Brutal Slash, and Thrash damage by 2%.
      • Increase Lunar Inspiration damage by 5%.
      • Aberrus, the Shadowed Crucible: 2-Set Bonus has been adjusted – Shadows of the Predator’s duration increased to 25 seconds (was 20 seconds) and when an application resets stacks, duration is reset to 25 seconds.
      • Thrashing Claws’ Shred damage bonus reduced to 5% (was 8%).
      • Dreadful Bleeding Rip damage bonus increased to 18% (was 15%).
      • Tear Open Wounds’ damage conversion rate reduced to 60% (was 70%).

      • Lunar Beam healing increased by 25%.
      • Elune’s Favored causes you to be healed for 40% of Arcane damage done (was 30%).
      • Brambles reflects 25% additional damage.
      • Ursoc’s Fury causes Thrash and Maul to grant an absorb shield for 60% of damage dealt (was 50%).
    • Restoration
      • Incarnation: Tree of Life and Convoke the Spirits now properly override each other on your Action Bar when swapping talents.
      • Aberrus, the Shadowed Crucible: 2-Set Bonus has been adjusted – Rejuvenation and Lifebloom healing increased by 12% (was 15%). Regrowth healing over time increased by 50% (was 75%).
      • Aberrus, the Shadowed Crucible: 4-Set Bonus has been adjusted – Flourish increases the rate of your heal over time effects by 30% for an additional 16 seconds after it ends (was 40%).
      • Fixed an issue that caused Wild Growth’s healing to falloff incorrectly and heal for less than intended.
      • Wild Growth’s healing has been decreased by 4%.
        • Developers’ note: Wild Growth’s healing is being decreased to offset the increased healing that the fix to the falloff issue provides.
      • Fixed an issue that caused Overgrowth to cast the incorrect version of Lifebloom if using the Undergrowth talent.
  • EVOKER
    • Devastation
      • Developers’ note: We’re thrilled with the reception to Devastation Evoker, and the excitement players have expressed for the playstyle. In Embers of Neltharion, we’re making targeted adjustments to a few key talents to address a nuance of the Dragonrage extension loop where it can be optimal to aggressively cancel and re-cast Disintegrate back to back, in order to maximize the effects of Feed the Flames and Causality. This specific behavior is fairly unintuitive, and the below changes are intended to make fully channeling Disintegrate the more rewarding way to play. Additionally, we’re looking to add more options for area-of-effect damage gameplay with the new talent Raging Inferno, and a redesigned Imminent Destruction.
      • Feed the Flames has been redesigned – Pyre reduces the remaining cooldown of Fire Breath and Eternity Surge by 1 second, or 2 seconds if it was affected by Essence Burst.
      • Causality has been redesigned – While channeling Disintegrate, Fire Breath and Eternity Surge cool down 100% faster.
      • Dragonrage duration increased to 18 seconds (was 14 seconds).
      • Animosity duration extension decreased to 4 seconds (was 6 seconds).
      • Engulfing Blaze’s cast time increase for Living Flame reduced to 0.3 seconds (was 0.5 seconds).
      • Engulfing Blaze’s damage bonus to Living Flame reduced to 25% (was 40%).
      • Imminent Destruction has been redesigned – Deep Breath causes your empower spells to reach maximum level in 20%/40% less time, and enemies struck by it take 10%/20% more damage from your empower spells for 15 seconds.
      • New Talent: Raging Inferno – Firestorm’s radius is increased by 50%, and Pyre deals 25% increased damage to enemies within your Firestorm.
      • Raging Inferno is located on the talent tree as a choice node with Snapfire.
      • Developers’ note: Thanks to the invaluable feedback from all of you, we’ve made further changes to Devastation’s talents. The bottom section of the tree has been significantly rearranged, and has fewer 2-point nodes. Causality has been iterated on, maintaining the goal of rewarding fully-channeled Disintegrates, but addressing the concerns with how the new design would have interacted with Haste. Finally, some under-used talents have gotten partial or full reworks to introduce new build and playstyle options.
      • Causality has been redesigned – Disintegrate reduces the remaining cooldown of your empower spells by 0.5 seconds each time it deals damage. Pyre reduces their cooldowns by 0.4 seconds per enemy struck, up to 2 seconds. Causality is no longer a choice talent.

    • Mistweaver
      • Developers’ note: Ancient Teachings is a primary piece of Mistweaver’s healing toolkit in Dragonflight, but its previous design was unreliable – a single Rising Sun Kick’s targeting could sometimes determine life or death for an ally. That level of variance between results on healing out of your direct control wasn’t healthy for the specialization. Our goal is to land somewhere in the middle – a single Rising Sun Kick likely shouldn’t save an ally on its own, but it also shouldn’t condemn them either. This new design is more dynamic and capable of handling a variety of healing profiles, and we feel will offer greater reliability for Mistweaver’s consistent healing. We’ll be monitoring feedback on this change as PTR progresses.
      • Ancient Teachings has been redesigned – After casting Essence Font or Faeline Stomp, your Tiger Palm, Blackout Kick, and Rising Sun Kick heal up to 5 injured allies within 30 yards for 150% of the damage done, split evenly among them. Lasts 15 seconds.

      • New Talent: Chrysalis – Reduces the cooldown of Life Cocoon by 45 seconds. Located on a choice node with Burst of Life.
        • Developers’ note: Chrysalis has been a staple honor talent for Mistweavers in PvP. We fill that this reliance on this talent has been indicative of Mistweaver’s lack of external cooldowns options in many forms of content. We are moving this to the spec tree to free up an honor talent slot and offer a new PvE relevant option in this choice node.
      • Developers’ note: With a redesign of Ancient Teachings that is more focused on group-wide healing, we are adjusting Vivify’s healing profile slightly to increase Mistweaver’s spot healing.

        • Developers’ note: Mistweavers rely heavily on Faeline Stomp and we feel in some situations not resetting Faeline Stomp could feel too punishing. Our goal is for it still to be optimal to reset Faeline if possible, but not impact the flow of the spec too much if you miss one.

    • Shadow
      • Developer’s note: Greetings! We have several changes coming to Shadow Priest Talents in Embers of Neltharion that are aimed at addressing spec issues and adding new Talent options.
        • Button bloat: Shadow has more rotational abilities than most other specializations. We’re working to reduce this by having Mind Spike replace Mind Flay and removing Mind Sear.
        • Mind Sear: We feel Mind Sear as a spender was a worthy experiment in Dragonflight, but the gameplay has not been as smooth as we envisioned. We are removing the spell and focusing Shadow’s AoE kit further on Psychic Link.
        • Flooded rotation: There are times in the rotation where several spells are competing to be cast due to proc frequency and overall Insanity generation. We are adjusting some proc and the Insanity generation of several talents for a clearer rotational flow.
        • Lack of distinct builds: With updates to existing talents and some new talents, we aim for more build-defining choices such as investing in cooldowns, damage over time effects, critical damage, or Shadowy Apparitions.
        • PvP: In Dragonflight, Shadow has had access to more instant cast spells through procs and cooldowns than ever before. Because it was difficult to prevent Shadow Priests from scoring kills, we reduced their damage in Season 1. We’ve removed some of the problematic procs and cooldowns moving into 10.1.0, so there is more counterplay to Shadow’s offense. This allows us to ease up on some of the damage nerfs to the spec.
We’re looking forward to hearing your feedback on any changes we’ve made as well as any other thoughts you have about Shadow Priest. Thank you!

DUNGEONS AND RAIDS

  • MYTHIC+
    • AFFIXES
      • Developers’ note: We have been evaluating our affix tiers and their impact on keystones. While we feel the change to bring affixes online at 7 and 14 is healthy, we wanted to also ensure that the right level of challenge is coming online at keystone levels 7 and 14. • Precognition (PvP Talent) has been removed. Precognition can now be crafted onto gear via Optional Reagent and counts as an Embellishment.
  • Hardiness (Orc Racial) stun reduction has been reduced by 50% in PvP combat.
    • Developers’ note: In conjunction with the crowd control changes we are making, we are adjusting the value of Hardiness to put the ability’s power level more in line with other racial abilities in PvP scenarios, while still being able to feel the impact of the racial.
  • The PvP gear vendor located in Stormwind and Orgrimmar has been updated to sell Season 2 PvP gear for testing.
  • Net-o-Matic 5000 can now be used in all areas outside of the Dragon Isles, but not inside the Dragon Isles zones.

In today’s PTR build, you may notice that redistribution, with honor and conquest gains being slightly less for Rated Solo Shuffle and higher in grouped Rated PvP content (2v2, 3v3, and Rated Battlegrounds.

      • Developers’ note: We are adjusting the bonuses from the PvP set bonus, Gladiator’s Distinction, to be percentage based so that it properly scales with new seasons. At the same time, we’ve noticed battleground fights and arena matches in Embers of Neltharion resulting in stalemates now that critical strikes are dealing less damage. To improve the experience, we’re reducing the primary stat granted to healers from the PvP set bonus. We also are aiming to give healers more opportunities to survive when being attacked, so we’re increasing the amount of Stamina healers receive from the PvP set bonus.
      • Gladiator’s Distinction now increases primary stat by 25% and increases Stamina by 5% for damage dealing and tank specializations.
      • Gladiator’s Distinction now increases primary stat by 15% and increases Stamina by 15% for healer specializations.
    • INTERRUPT DURATION CHANGESThe below changes for interrupts are gamewide, not PvP specific.
      • Developers’ note: We feel that this change would have minimal impact in other content due to how creature spells are generally designed, as most kicks are spent on spells that have inherent cooldowns longer than the interrupt duration. We will also be keeping extra consideration of these changes for seasonal dungeons.

PROFESSIONS

  • To support the new Spark of Shadowflame, recipes that require a Spark now let you choose which Spark to use in the required reagents section.
  • Sockets added through the Season 1 Great Vault will be removed when recrafting an item to Season 2 levels (with a warning prompt).
  • To make it clear who is providing which materials, crafting orders now show icons representing the crafter and customer next to each reagent. A message also appears above the Start Order button if the customer didn’t provide some or all reagents.
  • Player Name column widened to make more room for realm names in the crafting orders list.
  • The undo button for adding optional reagents moved inside the optional reagent flyout.
  • Adjusted the alignment of prices in the Crafting Orders UI.
  • New Optional Reagents are available for upgrading items to a higher item level.

      • Enchanted Wyrm’s Shadowflame Crest
      • Enchanted Aspect’s Shadowflame Crest
    • Concentrated Primal Infusions now go up to 421 item level to match upgrade systems.
  • Elemental Lariat duration changed to 5 seconds (was 12 seconds); increased by 1 second per elemental gem equipped.
    • Developers’ note: The Elemental Lariat has been one of the strongest embellishments due to its ability to grant a large amount of your desired stat based on a condition that is easy to satisfy. We knew that we wanted to bring its power back on the season boundary, but was important to us that player’s investment in acquiring the item or the recipe was respected. Rather than reduce its power directly, we opted to redesign the passive to bring it in line with all other Jewelcrafting effects by scaling an axis of power with the quantity of gems slotted. The net result is that the Elemental Lariat will be less powerful than it is now earlier in a player’s gearing phase, while preserving its place as a throughput powerhouse when players begin to round off their gear set with added sockets. We look forward to hearing your feedback.
  • Tooltip size for Recipe Unlearned has been increased.
  • Players can now purchase Crests of Honor and Trophies of Conquest from PvP quartermasters in Valdrakken. These tokens cost 525, 700, and 875 of their respective currencies and are used as Optional Reagents when crafting armor and accessories of identical costs. Items enhanced with these reagents will gain the ability to scale to their appropriate PvP item level in Arenas and Battlegrounds.
    • Developers’ note: Our goals with this addition are to enable a broader selection of embellishments to be viable choices for players of all ranks, offer more opportunities to customize secondary stats via the missive system, and enable the use of Tinkers in Unrated Battlegrounds without concerns of the power discrepancy.
  • Last season’s Crimson Combatant recipes can now be purchased from Korganar Smolderforge in the Gladiator’s Refuge for 3 Marks of Honor each.
  • Shadowlands scaled items can now be disenchanted in Chromie Time.

Hello adventurers! The Embers of Neltharion PTR has been updated with the following changes:

DRAGONFLIGHT SEASON 2

  • MYTHIC+
      • Keystone Level 4 Affixes:
        • Spiteful
        • Sanguine
        • Bursting
        • Bolstering
        • Raging
      • Keystone Level 7 Affixes:
        • Incorporeal
        • Afflicted
        • Entangling
        • Explosive
        • Storming

NEW UPGRADE SYSTEM

Wrath and Starfire gained a lot of the Astral Power generation in 10.1, and we’re moving some of that increase into more passive sources to make Balance Druids a little more mobile. We’re giving Stellar Flare a boost to make it a valid option in low target scenarios. • Developers’ note: This set bonus change will not be in this week’s PTR deploy, but will be in for a future PTR build. We’re making this change to ensure that Holy’s 2-piece bonus remains in line with the other healer set bonuses, regardless of target count and randomness. Hello! Here are this week’s updates to the Embers of Neltharion PTR:

DRAGONFLIGHT SEASON 2

  • MYTHIC+
      • Keystone Level 7 Affixes (was level 4):
        • Spiteful
        • Sanguine
        • Bursting
        • Bolstering
        • Raging
      • Keystone Level 14 Affixes (was level 7):
        • Incorporeal
        • Afflicted
        • Entangling
        • Explosive
        • Storming

  • DEMON HUNTER
    • Havoc

      • Several new combat animations added to the Might/Blight of the Grizzlemaw Druid Bear Form customizations.
    • Restoration
      • Fixed an issue that caused Wild Growth’s healing to falloff incorrectly and heal for less than intended.
      • Wild Growth’s healing has been decreased by 4%.
        • Developers’ note: Wild Growth’s healing is being decreased to offset the increased healing that the fix to the falloff issue provides.
  • EVOKER
    • Devastation
      • Font of Magic now also causes your empower spells to reach maximum level in 20% less time.

      • Scintillation is now a 1-rank talent (was 2 ranks) and damage effectiveness is 60%, the former 2-rank value.
      • Power Swell is now a 1-rank talent (was 2 ranks) and the duration is 4 seconds, the former 2-rank value.
      • New Talent: Event Horizon – Eternity Surge’s cooldown is reduced by 3 seconds. Choice talent with Eye of Infinity.
      • Eye of Infinity has been redesigned – Eternity Surge deals 15% increased damage to your primary target.
      • Arcane Vigor has been redesigned – Shattering Star grants Essence Burst.
      • Snapfire’s chance to trigger Firestorm increased to 15% (was 12%).
      • Raging Inferno’s Firestorm radius bonus reduced to 25% (was 50%) and Pyre damage bonus reduced to 20% (was 25%).
  • HUNTER
    • Revive Pet now has a 2.5 second cast time (was 3 seconds).
    • Revive Pet’s spell school is now Physical, and can no longer be stopped by Silence and Interrupt effects (was Nature).
    • Survival
      • Developers’ note: The Dragonflight Season 1 Survival Hunter tier set bonus is very powerful in single target scenarios, but will potentially cause issues in Season 2 where you are not encouraged to upgrade your gear to the new tier set. We’re lowering the values on the Season 1 2-piece and 4-piece set bonuses, and increasing the damage dealt by your class to compensate for these changes.
      • Vault of the Incarnates: 2-Set Bonus has been adjusted – Raptor Strike/Mongoose Bite, Carve, and Butchery damage increased by 12% (was 15%).
      • Vault of the Incarnates: 4 Set Bonus has been redesigned – Raptor Strike/Mongoose Bite, Carve, and Butchery have a 20% chance to make your next Raptor Strike/Mongoose Bite, Carve, and Butchery cost 10 less Focus and deal 40% increased damage (was 100% Focus cost reduction and 50% increased damage).
      • All damage dealt by you and your pet’s abilities increased by 8%.
  • MONK
    • Fixed an issue that prevented Ferocity of Xuen from not increasing your summoned pet+ damage.
    • Brewmaster
      • Fluidity of Motion’s tooltip has been updated to clarify that the damage of Blackout Kick is reduced.
  • PALADIN
    • Fixed a tooltip error with Consecrated Ground displaying Divine Hammer for non-Retribution Paladins.

  • SHAMAN
    • Deeply Rooted Elements should now activate more consistently for all specializations.

    • Destruction
      • Aberrus, the Shadowed Crucible: 4-Set Bonus has been redesigned – Demonfire bolts increase your Fire damage by 1% for 13 seconds, stacking up to 8 times. Gaining a stack does not refresh the duration. Casting Channel Demonfire resets this effect.

Hello everyone! Here’s what you can find in this week’s Embers of Neltharion PTR update:

  • DRUID

        • Developers’ note: Mistweavers rely heavily on Faeline Stomp and we feel in some situations not resetting Faeline Stomp could feel too punishing. Our goal is for it still to be optimal to reset Faeline if possible, but not impact the flow of the spec too much if you miss one.

With that said, we feel our current level 7 affixes have a larger impact on the moment to moment gameplay for groups and have decided to switch the levels that our keystone affixes come online.
        • Periodic affixes are now added to keystones at level 7 (was 14).
          • Afflicted

Hello everyone! Here are this week’s updates to the Embers of Neltharion PTR:

CLASSES

    • Unholy
      • Aberrus, the Shadowed Crucible: 4-Set Bonus has been adjusted – Consuming Sudden Doom grants 1 extra stack of Master of Death (was 2 stacks).
