[2020] I beat my first Kuva Lich, but I can’t start my next?

You can skip all this to see my question, I’m just explaining myself.

Well I started the whole quest line on a whim, and ended up converting the Lich when I was do the finisher. It was partially an accident, but I didn’t want it’s weapon anyway so I figured whatever.

I read about how all this works online, and the wiki/fandom says that the converted Lich can be traded using the crimson branch, and also used in missions.

I figured I wouldn’t worry about that stuff and try to start my next Lich, but after 9 missions, I can’t seem to get a larva to spawn.

Do I need to have a Crimson Branch in order to start my second Lich? Or am I just getting super unlucky?
