While we are calling this a hotfix, it is actually a small CERT update (learn more about what that means here). Depending on your Automatic App Update preferences, you may need to manually update the app.

This is our first CERT update following our move to focus on early game technical issues. As such, the changes present in this update are intended to improve performance and ease of use with touch controls. Please read [DE]Steve’s June Update for more information about our Mobile plans.

Fixes

  • Reduced crashes occurring in Open World areas and Railjack, particularly on iPhone 13 and later devices.
    •  If you are still experiencing crashes in these areas or elsewhere, sharing your game logs with us is extremely helpful. Here's how to save & send error logs to Digital Extremes so that we may investigate.
    • We continue to make progress in reducing crashes and thank you for your patience!

Changes

  • Changed the default Video settings from Medium to Low for all iPhone/iPad models.
    • Players can adjust their video / graphics settings to their liking by going into the Video Settings in Options.
  • Aim Assist is now set to 100% by default in the interest of assisting touch control players
    • Previously, Aim Assist was set to 70% by default.
    • Players can adjust their Aim Assist preferences, or disable entirely, by going into the Accessibility Settings in Options.
  • Decreased the distance a touch control user must drag their finger to transition into a sprint on iPad.
    • Based on player feedback, we made it so that going from slow to fast movement requires less “push” on the virtual joystick.
  • Removed the iOS exclusive “Sensor Ring” overlay.
    • In [DE]Steve’s Mobile Update post, we shared that we have set our sights on performance improvements. The Sensor Ring overlay, which would give directional indicators for out of frame objects, was contributing to hitching/stuttering. We will keep you informed if/when the Sensor Ring is returning in a more optimized state.

What about optimization for older iPhone models? Or should owners of older iPhones forget about the game?

We'll continue working on optimization for all devices, including older ones. But the fix in this update specifically addressed a crash type for iPhone 13 and other devices with 4GB of RAM or more.

one thing I’d like to see hashed out is sometimes my melee button (auto melee off) will get locked doing only heavy attacks, so I have to play through the game only doing heavy attacks instead of standard attacks. The standard melee button that’s just a sword will get locked into heavy attacks only and it’s quite annoying taking several seconds to open containers or only doing heavy attacks on weaker level enemies is a drag lol

Thanks for the report, Tenno! We'll take a look. Mind if I ask, are you sure you are not activating Melee Mode and getting stuck in it?

Melee Touch Controls

  • You can change your combat state using the new Melee virtual button (indicated by the crossed-swords icon) on the bottom left of the screen (left of the weapon Cycle).
  • How to enable: Tapping the Melee Icon brings the player into Melee-only mode, where all of your attacks are done solely by your Melee weapon. This is most comparable to holding “F” (default) on keyboard & mouse on the PC version of Warframe.
  • If Auto shooting and Auto Melee are disabled, Melee-only mode introduces a Light Attack, Heavy Attack, and a Manual Block Button to the right side of the UI.
  • If players are using simple touch controls (Auto Shooting and Auto Melee enabled by default) these new Melee buttons are hidden. To disable Auto Melee, go to Options > Touch > Automatic Actions > Auto-melee OFF / ON.
  • How to disable: Tapping the Weapon Cycle button will return players back to default attack mode and out of Melee-only mode.

are you planning on bringing back anytime soon that claw “fix” mentioned in the previous hotfix?

Absolutely! It just wasn't quite ready.
