An amazing book, Last Stand of the Tin Can Sailors, that I can not recommend highly enough.

If ever a battle should be turned into a major motion picture the battle of taffy 3 should be at the front of the line.

The heroics are of such an epic nature that they stand out even now, 70 plus years later.

Thanks for the great images and painting @Shigure_DD

They should give it another go. With modern CG and real effects, I would be in the "Take my MONEY" line the minute they announced it. Get some intense actor like Tom Hardy to play EE Evens and load the film with GOOD Actors and it would print money and likely win awards. The true story would carry it, IMO.

Thank you for the suggestion and feedback. The USS Johnston would be amazing to see in-game. It, the USS Hoel, USS Heerman, and the Samual B. Roberts, demonstrated the courage and determination that is the very best of the US Navy. they and their crews are finally getting a wider level of credit they rightfully deserve. Thanks to authors like James Hornfischerand others the heroics of Taffy 3 are getting the admiration they deserve.

Thanks for bringing up Rear Adm norm Scott, @BlueByYou. You are correct in the fact there is little out there about Scott. I dug a little bit and found just basic accounts of his career. I would suggest perhaps creating a separate thread about him, as to draw in others who might have more info and resources on him.

On your first point, I think it best to celebrate these epic crews and their captains based on how they dealt with their unique situations and challenges they found themselves in. You're dead on, IMO, about how the Commanders you mentioned from Taffy 3 and Rear Admiral Scott were "unrecognized" until more recently. I hope if others have more info on Scott that please share it for those of us seeking more detail on this epic Admiral.
