No, the Smoke Generator Modification 1 upgrade is only compatible with standard smoke generator consumable and crawler smoke generator consumable.

It is shown in the client in tooltip of the upgrade, that it works for Smoke generator and for Crawler smoke generator. Also, a disclaimer is added in the Armory for this upgrade.
