Sorry for the delay in my response, I was under the weather today.
So before getting into @Lert's concerns, I'd like to address this thread as a whole:
This isn't cool everyone. You all know the forum rules and you all know better than this. Attacking each other and talking about historic tragedies? Needless to say, the degradation of this thread is what has gotten it locked. We are all for discussion and debate here on the forums, but when it comes down to disrespectful name-calling and whatnot, we will not hesitate to close down the thread.

I understand your frustration. As a major advocate for the inclusion and representation of the Dutch Navy in World of Warships, I can completely understand why you'd feel slighted by the recent announcement of European DDs being predominantly Swedish when there are many Dutch DDs that could've been represented within the line. I would encourage you to remember, this is just the start of what is planned for the European nation, and as with other nations there could well be a split in the DD line in the future or even a secondary line with a broader nation lineup represented, I can't say at the moment, I don't know - but it is possible.
Please consider that when designing lines we do consider the "point" of the line: is it gunboats? torpboats? etc. I'm not 100% certain and could try and enquire internally, but this may have been a factor of consideration for keeping the line revolving around Swedish ships to keep commonality between their gameplay based on ship design consistent. Again, just my personal speculation at this point.
Your concern regarding the gimmicks; consider this is an early announcement and testing concepts. As we've seen in other ships/lines, if we need to we will reassess and change the characteristics if required.
We know the Dutch Navy, we know there are more ships that should be represented beyond the Friesland, and in time I hope we can do as much.
