Heyo Captains,
OP you are correct this is not a SIM style game, however balance is a component we are cautious of. There is a risk/reward element of CV play that is often not recognised. While yes, a CV can sit at the back of the map and stay predominantly undetected and run their planes, in return for staying in a safer position they are subject to longer flight times to get out from their CV and make attacks. So they are actually reducing their attacking capability to remain undetected. In converse, the CV captains who play *ahem* more aggressively, benefit from reduced reload times however also run the risk of being more easily detected. This inverse relationship helps keep the class balanced in regards to this.
In regards to the CV being detected upon making a drop, unfortunately does not make much sense. Looking at game design, I can't recall one scenario where throwing a grenade would leave an enemy player as detected without any line of sight. Similar to this notion, just like you can generally guess where the grenade came from, you can usually make a pretty accurate as to the general location of a CV based on where planes are coming from. If CVs were to be detected even briefly after dropping an ordinance with the available range on majority of BBs, they would easily be removed from the game within a few drops (so long as the aim is decent from opposing ships). I hope you can understand from this perspective why this really isn't feasible to add to the game.
We are still looking into the balance of CV and the final viewpoint of the rework as a whole, so make sure you keep an eye out for further formal communication from the staff.
Fem,
