[2020] Gifted ships block account?

From this, we get information that:
1. You can't remove gifted content from the account in order to remove the blockade
2. Paypal is not acceptable and that's literally the only payment option I use

So I am going to attempt to elaborate as much as I can to what support is telling you. I have looked at your ticket and dug into the issue some but before I explain what occurred I want to point out what our End User License Agreement states:

"8.6.8 If the sender of a gift cancels the payment or fails to pay after the recipient accepts the gift, both accounts will be blocked until the circumstances are clarified. Please do not accept gifts from unknown senders."

So why do we have this in place? It is a fraud protection measure. And 1 of 2 options can be taken to rectify the issue.

1: If the person that sent you the gift did not intend to, and you have already accepted the gift and it has been accredited to your account, and then they issue a charge back (refund for the purchase) both accounts get locked. The only way for both accounts to get unlocked is if that person revokes their charge back (essentially repaying). Whether the purchase was in error or they did not recognize the charge and then they ask the institution to cancel payment this is what will occur. If they take the steps to revoke or recharge the original gift both accounts will be unlocked.

2: You can pay the amount that the gift was for and your account will be unlocked at that point.

This is why our support team told you what they did.

It was not stated in your original post whether you know the person that sent you the gift or not, but let me re-iterate to everyone that accepting gifts from someone you do not know is not a good idea, the above issue happens a lot more often than you might think and is the reason this fraud protection is in place. I apologize for the confusion and frustration but these are the only solutions to your case.
