How did we obfuscate the reasoning for the changes?

Almost all the operations had bugs that legitimately broke them with mechanics changes throughout the life of the game. This is why they were pulled. And attention is being put towards balancing them and fixing the bugs, we have been saying that for some time.

Have they occurred in the most expeditious manner? No, they have not. But they are occuring.

As for economic changes, I couldn't tell you what the final values are, because after the PTS round 1 is done, we will do a round 2 and re-evaluate. Many if not all the values that you have to or will get on the PTS are no where near what you will have on the live, because we want the testers to progress to test as much as a possible as far as possible.

The operations were originally a game mode put into the game to compliment not replace other game modes. And TBH, since the first release of the first operation they were VERY easy to farm large amounts of FXP, credits and even BXP (if you were grinding something that fit an operation). It honestly used to surprise me how much you could get from operations I remember at one point having a conversation with friends that you don't really need to play randoms when you're grinding through a tier of ship that can be utilized in an operation.

Economic adjustments are always occurring in almost any game, because believe it or not games have micro-economies, this is also nothing new.

Yes, they WERE removed to fix bugs and technical issues. But when you consider that we are always looking at numbers globally (I mean the internal economy here), if a change is occurring to the economics from the operations it was more than likely needed.

I have said this in another post about this, and I will copy and paste here:

For the most part, you could almost ALWAYS pull more XP, FXP and credits than in PvP. NO, I am not saying ALWAYS, but if I needed FXP or credits, I would just play operations for a day... so overall? Yes.

We're balancing the economy of our operations. Those details will be outlined in our patch notes for 9.3 along with some bug fixes coming to operations like bot pathfinding.

You're not wrong. But, it was also not done out of malice.

We will continue to evaluate balance, and changes to things, and make changes as needed.

While I cannot speak directly to the process that goes into these kinds of changes - understanding the landscape of things as it relates to design plans is a critical part of it. I don't know that I have ever worked for a studio that made changes based on how they 'feel'. This is kind of an answer without being an answer, but not out of wanting to ignore it, but because game development is never black and white.
