Hey all,

Updating or changing a system is never an easy task nor one that is taken lightly. My personal experience with the Mercy rule has been a positive one, but I understand that is not the case for everyone, but that my reasons for playing co-op may be different than others. Since I started, I've read and discussed the feedback we've gotten on the Mercy rule. The feedback we're getting is being shared with the development teams, but for now, we don't have anything to update.

It is being looked into :) my messaging stands and Kalvothe's messgaging is supplemental to it :)

This could cause games to end early due to reaching 1000 points faster, so same issue but the reverse way of getting there.

There are technological reasons why this solution is not really a solution.

We totally get it, there is a subset of the player base who prefers to play Co-Op, and that is completely okay. We have heard your frustration regarding the "Mercy rule", and we gain nothing from frustrated players so naturally we want to find the best means to fix it for everyone concerned. We do need to be mindful from the technical standpoint so that it does not impeded or complicate future development. Many players have offered "solutions" however unfortunately they are not viable for a variety of reasons that unfortunately I cannot detail beyond "technical limitations/obstructions". The teams are looking into it and keeping a close eye on the situation.

Hopefully we will have something for you in the near future.

Apologies if it came across that I am walking anything back. My statement is that we're sharing that information with the development team, and will continue to share the feedback being provided. But, at this time, I don't have anything to share with you regarding what will come of that.

Hope that clarifies for you!

Considering I'm already tracking over 20 threads on this matter each with 5-15 proposed solutions within them, its not a valuable use of anyone's time to compile this and lead back to each individual bases so I will summarize your request

I have already explained in a simply way why many of the proposed solutions are not viable at the moment. Majority of the solutions suggest changes to how the scoring system works including:

Removing the reduction of points for ships killed

Reducing the amount a killing of a ship removes

Starting with a higher number of points.

Putting in a conditional timer which prevents the mercy rule from occurring

Removing the winning stipulation

Basic premise is it would be different from the core engine that games run on which would require a split of the modes into two core game engines. While this is not impossible to do, the issues would come in terms of then maintaining these engines and the impact it would have on further and future development. This is why it is not the simplest or the best solution. We believe there is a way we can keep the engines unified and solve the issue and we would like to explore this before splitting the engines and adding complexities for future development. If it comes to that, we will consider it, but we would like to explore other options first.

Thanks for the suggestion!
