Research Bureau Too Long? Didn't Read?
The TL:DR series aims to give you all the info you need in a fraction of the time!

What?

A system in which you can reset fully researched ship lines, with the purpose of re-playing and re-researching them to gain Research Points to gain additional rewards such as ships, free exp, and signals.

Why?

Many late game players have progressed through all or majority of the available ship lines, this systems gives an established player reason to re-engage with lower tier content of their favorite lines while earning rewards.

When?

The Research Bureau will be introduced to the game in update 0.8.7.0 in August 2019

How does it work?

The Research Bureau is available to players who have reached Tier X on 5 separate lines.

When a player has reached their fifth Tier X, they will see an option to restart a line from the Tech Tree Tab:

Resetting a line will erase all progress on that tech tree branch:

All ships will be sold, with a 50% refund to credits

All consumables (flags/camos/etc) and upgrades will be demounted and placed in the inventory

All commanders will remained specialized but moved to the reserve

Amounted convertible EXP will be moved to the Tier I ship of the same nation.

Players will then be able to begin playing the line and researching through the ships again.

What is the benefit?

When resetting a line, eligible ships Tier VI through X will be adorned with a new marking known as the "Research Point Mark"

A ship will not be eligible if a player has not previously obtained that ship, such as in the case of skipping tiers from early access content.

To remove a Research Point Mark, a player must gain a victory in this ship.

The removal of a Research Point Mark will grant the player Research Points

The available points range from 500-6000 depending on the tier and class of ship

Research Point Marks cannot be removed in Clan or Training battles

You can see your current balance of Research Points in the Armory interface

These Research Points can be used on a variety of benefits in the Research Bureau section in the armory, including:

Reward Ships: At launch the Tier X FR CA Colbert will be available with more ships available in the future.

Free EXP

Signals

The TL:DR is meant to provide the bare bone instructions and explanations to make the information less confronting but provide the bare necessities on upcoming info.

But yes the 10,000 kick off for the first reset is still there.

I've updated the link :)

Phraseology issue, fixing :)

Ships when being sold back have always been returned at half price. Upgrade modules will be sold at half their purchase price too.

The original idea saw outcry about the rewards/benefits that would come it (that is buff to ships). This has been completely removed for the new Research Bureau.

Your research points will remain between seasons and not expire.

I'm a little curious how you came to this conclusion, nothing within this system has a monetized aspect.

It revolves around giving motivation and purpose to players who have reached content cap to continue experiencing the game, by OFFERING again, not forcing them to enjoy the lines of tech tree ships again, with a valuable reward at the end.

Fem,

Special upgrades and regular upgrades are demounted and placed in the inventory. Researchable ship modules are sold at 50.

The first season will last 3 months.

The benefit of a season is the first line reset will receive a 2x bonus to obtainable research points (up to 20,000 instead of 10,000)

There is no limit on how many lines you can reset within a season.

The marks will stay on the ships for you to knock off at your leisure, it does not have to be completed within the season.

You can reset as many lines as you like at once.

We will continue to develop ships for all other currency types.

As we have in the recent past, if a ship is being retired from being available, we will give you ample notice on this.

(Trying to get to as many questions as possible, please humor me)

No, all research is undone and those ship upgrades are sold and un-researched.

Please remember, the RB, is a completely OPTIONAL system within the game.

No player will be forced to reset any line if they do no want to.

If the rewards are not of interested to you, if you do not have interest in regrinding lines - you do not have to.

A major concern with the original NTC that offered buffs for regrinding was that it forced players to engage with it in order to keep a level playing field with other players. This new system does not. You will not be at a disadvantage if you decide to not use the system. If the available reward ships are not of interest to you - then no worries. The reward ships, as with all ships in the game, intend to be well balanced upon their release. While yes, a player could push through the RB using FXP/ETC, that does not remove the fact that the system is available to all players, and DOES NOT REQUIRE monetary commitment to receive the rewards.

The Ohio is still very much stated as a WIP ship and undergoing balance.

The Colbert recently received nerfs.

We have no interest in developing and releasing OP ships, while ships may be OP/UP during their testing phase, this is why we have a testing phase, so that we can improved their balance and interaction within the game.

I believe these missions will remain in your personal assignments and will not expire / lose no progress.

over 5 years ago - Femennenly - Direct link

... because they need to be tested on live server to ensure balance is achieved in the live environment?

When they are brought to live in WIP they are restricted to the small percentage of the playerbase (CCs/STs/CST/Privateers) a total of maybe 200 players. We admit when in their WIP some ships in the past have been OP/UP, but by their release to the general playerbase they are in line with their peers of the same tier and class.

Guys, honestly I don't understand your complaints. No one is going to force you to reset a branch if you don't want to.

over 5 years ago - Bualar - Direct link

It would be a wasted resources if we would cancel it completely a week before release. Plus we never expected that literally every one will like it.
But anyway, we are monitoring your feedback and we consider everything. However, if a feedback has some arguments and suggestions (I don't like this mechanic because it works this way, I suggest you make it that way because... blah-blah) that's kinda cool even if it's negative. But comments like "Oh no, it's so boring" is kinda useless for the devs.

over 5 years ago - Bualar - Direct link

I didn't mention your comment \ feedback, only those I quoted at the first place.

Regarding your comment. There will be more prizes coming in the next seasons so you just wait for the one that will suit you. As I said, you can't please everyone.

over 5 years ago - Bualar - Direct link

Ok, I will explain a little further. Things like Maps, ships and UI are NOT made by the same people who create new mechanics like Research Bureau.
Does someone ever told "Hey guys, we were working on some new ships and UI but decided to make a Research Bureau instead"? No. So the fact that we released RB doesn't mean we didn't or doesn't work on ships and maps.
I didn't really get what do you mean about signals. When you bought a ship and installed some signals auto-resupply is disabled by default.

over 5 years ago - Bualar - Direct link

Can't answer that :D It will take to long to explain how everything works, sorry.

Nah, I came here myself actually. I enjoy talking with people :D

over 5 years ago - Bualar - Direct link

Ah, get it now. IMHO I don't see an issue here since it's clearly seen and located just next to the button. But I heard you.

over 5 years ago - Bualar - Direct link

Sorry mate it got lost, too many notifications are coming. I guess you remember what you wrote so I will just answer here without additional quotes.

I understand you, truly, I'm myself not going to use RB for now because I still have branches I want to learn (I'm just doing it with low-level friends when they are online so it taking much time haha). Regarding "isn't for everyone" thing and ship availability. We have ships for steel but some players prefer to play Coop and they never gonna have a chance to get it. And that's totally normal. We have different activities with different rewards for different players. I totally understand when some players like feature "A" and don't like feature "B" but I don't understand what exactly changed for you to stop playing. Yes, we implemented some feature you don't like, I get it but you still keep playing as you used to and who knows, maybe after a few updates, there will be something you will truly like?

over 5 years ago - Bualar - Direct link

They cost gold instead of silver because it gives you extra creds, XP, etc. Battle consumables (smoke, fighter etc.) are kinda totally different thing.

about 5 years ago - Bualar - Direct link

He is just saying that in a massive online game there can't be a content that will suit literally everyone. E.g. we made clans, but some players are enjoying playing solo and they don't need it, so from their position that's a waste and they would like to see us doing some other things.

about 5 years ago - Bualar - Direct link

Where did I say anything about fxp, coal etc.? It's not the first time you can't or don't want to understand what is the thought behind my words. So you do it just for fun or my comments are really so unclear?
So in case, my previous comment is really unclear etc. My point is, that there can't be content for everyone, clans are a pretty social thing so from the point of view of some solo players it may be useless content. Same thing with everything else.

about 5 years ago - Bualar - Direct link

You know what I mean. You don't need to take everything I say super-literally.

about 5 years ago - Bualar - Direct link

Which I actually like :D

about 5 years ago - Femennenly - Direct link

The system is here for the long term. Points will not expire.

Fem,
