Take moderation positions in a community where your profession, employment, or biases could pose a direct conflict of interest to the neutral and user driven nature of reddit.

Now, obviously, this is no "Do or the sub gets banned" stuff.

However, the basic problem why this part of the reddiquette exist is a simple one: Imagine if there were some gamebreaking exploit in a game, and the moderators who are also developers started to delete any mention of that exploit.

It would basically make the sub useless.

Let me be clear here: I dont accuse Bossa of anything here, because as far as im aware nothing like that happend, and they seem to be fine folks who wont screw with their community.

But that doesnt change the fact that the very first thing I saw when I subscribed to this sub a few weeks ago was developers also being moderators, and thus I had zero trust in this sub. I know that I am not alone with this reasoning, and if we want this sub to become one of the games community hubs, then we need to adress the issue.

Hey, subreddit moderator here :) I am not employed by Bossa, but I am an official moderator on the official/steam forums as well as here. Fenix and Templar3lf are in the same situation as myself.

Now, I won't lie - I am far from a "Redditor" - until I was a moderator elsewhere I didn't even have a Reddit account. This Reddit was originally created by SmashT, who handed it over to Bossa, who then handed it on to us mods.

And honestly, I agree - this should be run by more active Redditors (as none of us are hugely active over here, and that's a bad thing)

SO, I'll be putting up a post shortly to see who is interested in taking on a Reddit moderator role. We will then select an initial few, and co-moderate alongside them. Once we feel comfortable that they are the right fit, we will hand off to them fully and this Reddit will be completely community-ran, as it should be. From there, they can decide whether to appoint more moderators or not.

(For the record, Bossa don't actually do any moderation here, they are only moderators so they can sticky an important post or similar. But, if you guys would feel more comfortable if they were standard users then we can look into that too. They officially handed the Reddit over to us, we just kept them as mods as a courtesy really :P)
