s hello I'm Matt Foster one of the
s designers on worlds drift here boss
s studios I some of you in the community
s may know me as master and I am here to
s talk to you today about overheat for
s those of you who have played the game
s for quite some time or are pretty new to
s the game you might even know that
s overheat is a stat that has existed in
s world surge of since the very beginning
s of its inception however it hasn't
s actually functioned correctly until now
s in our new update we are releasing
s overheat and its associated components
s for all players the ship parts that are
s affected by overheat our engines cannons
s and swivel guns they are the ones that
s heat up cool down and if they heat up to
s a certain point will be disabled for a
s short amount of time overheat is
s something that we work out for some time
s we're very excited about it and we are
s going to need your feedback as you play
s through the game to tell us what you
s think of it and whether or not you
s believe it's balance and any sort of
s other questions that you might have that
s we can answer we want to know about them
s reach out to us on discord Twitter the
s normal channels now what does that work
s mean overheat when we talk about it can
s either be referred to as the stat on
s your ship parts or what happens when it
s actually overheats engines all engines
s have these same temperature at which
s they will suffer the effects of
s overheating all cannons and swivel guns
s share the same temperature for them they
s are different between the two but all
s ship parts of a specific type have the
s same temperature at which they overheat
s and that might leave you wondering what
s does overheat actually mean as a stat
s then it's a little complicated and
s that's why I'm here today and it mainly
s is split up into three different parts
s we have overheat as a stat and what that
s does is it lets you know how well your
s engine cannons swivel gun is able to
s deal with a surplus of heat
s it is one of the three main factors in
s determining how quickly your engine
s heats up or can endure swivel gun for
s the purposes of this video I'll talk
s about engines mainly the second
s component is power higher the power you
s have on your engine cannon a swivel gun
s the more heat you'll gain over a
s particular period of time over the
s entire duration of its use the more
s shots you fire the quicker the heat
s you'll gain on your weapons and the
s faster you go the higher the throttle
s percentage that you go on your engines
s the faster that they'll heat up the
s ratio between the overheat stat and the
s power set is very important if you have
s a really high power and a really low
s overheat you're gonna heat up very
s quickly if you're really high
s overheating very low power you may not
s overheat at all and finding that
s equilibrium that balance is something
s that we're hoping that players are going
s to enjoy breaking into the science of
s worlds of drift the third component is
s something new it's called the cooling
s factor ana cooling factor is something
s that you'll see on your engines not
s represented as a bar is not a base stat
s when an engine a cannon a swivel gun is
s rolled and the schematic is generated
s the stats for it are shown in bars
s resilience fuel efficiency power
s overheat spin up so on with cooling
s factor there is no base stat what it is
s is just a representation of the
s materials that you've used to create
s your engine and when I say that what I
s mean is there are stats on your
s materials that determine how well your
s engine can cool and based on what you
s make your engine out of it will be able
s to cool off faster or slower now engines
s cannons the swivel guns are always
s cooling even as they're gaining heat
s they're cooling they're trying to reach
s the ambient temperature of the world
s around them
s for most of the world that's the same
s except for the Badlands which is a
s little bit hotter in this new update
s meeting that overheat will be something
s a little bit different in a PvP
s situation on the PvE server or just in
s the Badlands on the PvP server the
s cooling factor is always trying to cool
s you down and when you do if you do
s overheat it will also determine how
s quickly you cool down to a usable
s temperature once again what that is is
s that specific number I'm going to leave
s to your imagination but essentially
s after you overheat after you max out the
s amount of heat that your engine's swivel
s gun or cannon can contain can hold it'll
s take some time to cool down again before
s it can be used for an engine when an
s engine overheats it stops spinning
s you'll hear an audio cue a visual cue of
s the red hot glow of the engine itself
s and then as it cools you'll see the glow
s start to to recede back the audio return
s to normal the sizzling will stop and
s then eventually if you have your
s throttle still up the whole time as soon
s as it's able to it'll turn back on and
s start running for an engine that's how
s it works
s for a cannon a swivel gun it's similar
s if you are shooting so fast and getting
s so much heat that you eventually do
s overheat your gun you'll have to wait a
s certain amount of time for it to cool
s before you can use it again when you do
s start using it again it will start at
s the temperature that it can first be
s used at if you're spamming the click now
s if you wait for to go all the way back
s down if you wait for it to cool I'll let
s you know somewhere in between that's
s where you'll start the cooling factor is
s represented as a small number underneath
s the weight of your parts in this
s schematic and it's also seen when you
s scan the engine cannon or so begun
s right underneath the weight represented
s as CF : number the number is anywhere
s between 0 and 100 but I believe right
s now based some of the stats the
s materials we have in game it's
s impossible to actually get 100 so you're
s one of the people out there who's dying
s to find a way don't fret it just allows
s us to continue adding great stuff in the
s future I believe that's all we have
s today we hope that you enjoy the
s overheat system in this new update I am
s like I said I'm master and I one of the
s designers of worlds adrift if you want
s to reach out to me and ask questions
s about how this works if you want to tell
s me what you think come on tell me that
s it sucks let me know I'm on discord at
s monster and I'm on Twitter at fat mo you
s can reach out to the whole team at the
s forums online you can follow us on
