Title says it all. I love this game and have played on and off since its original launch, and I'm sorry to see it go. However, why not just cut down to one server to save costs, shrink the size of the map drastically, and make the game F2P? If it's numbers you're looking for, free to play would do that naturally. If it's money you're looking for, there are many F2P models that are lucrative. I'm sure this has all been discussed at length by the studio, but why on earth has the decision been made to just scrap all the progress that has been made on this game?

So many players and crews have been waiting for bugs to be fixed to return, and bugs have been the priority lately in dev, or so we were led to believe. I've been watching and waiting patiently for this game to fix its issues and so have the 10-15 people I played with. Instead, the game is being scrapped? Take our early access money and make the game Free to Play for as long as the money holds out, and maybe you'll see an influx of players if you move forward with some of the bugfixes that Dave has been doing. Hell, make it free for the next two months just for kicks and watch how many people start to play. If they don't, who cares? It was going to shut down anyway. At least you gave it a chance.

I don't regret spending money on this game, but I don't feel Bossa taking the money I gave them to develop THIS game through its early access phase and then using it to develop ANOTHER game is at all ethical. If Bossa isn't going to leave the servers open, then we all should be getting a refund on our purchases. I absolutely will not support my money going from this game to another; unless they can prove to the community that all of their early access money is gone due to over-priced server fees (and the community's ridiculous insistence on a PvE server, doubling costs and putting a nail in the coffin of this game tbh), Bossa should at least keep the game open until the very last dollar of EA money that was given to them for Worlds Adrift is spent.

TLDR: I don't want my money going to a Bossa game other than Worlds Adrift. Keep the servers open and make it F2P until the early access money runs out, or refund us in full. Your community deserves that, or else all the dreams we had of flying through the skies were for nothing.

Heya,

Trust us, we love this game too. If we could find a way to make it work, we would be doing that.

With regards to the free to play question, A game usually can't transition from Premium to F2P: In order for a free to play game to be viable, it needs to be designed that way. The game design from Premium and F2P are very different things and need to be thought out from the start or, failing that, incur in heavy rework to be able to transition. Neither are true for Worlds Adrift.

We're keeping the servers running for as long as possible, keeping them going and alive for as long as commercially possible.

For an initial pass at F2P just to keep the servers going, would this suggestion be viable and quick to implement?

Players could pay a small monthly subscription to change status to 'premium' and only premium players have access to Hades on the map - if non-premium players spawn to a reviver in Hades or pass through a sand wall they immediately get hit with an atlas pulse.

(Later development could possibly introduce markets and currency where premium access could be an in game item to be traded (much like eve & PLEX). Players could buy premium access with their in-game effort instead of using RL cash and those with less game-time pay RL cash to buy quantities of premium and sell it in game to acquire resources / items).

Sadly an initial pass at F2P isn't possible, and a premium subscription is not possible. (Worlds Adrift struggled with sales on a pay-once, play forever basis. A subscription model will mean even smaller number of players, likely too little to keep a shard interesting to play in.)
