Yeah, this is usually the best option. The loot % is often misunderstood. What it does is change the stack size multiplier for loot items. It does not have much effect on the % chance of finding loot. So by setting it to 200%, every time you would find one recipe, you will now find two. And that stack of 2 eggs in a birdnest is now 4.

How is that a 'terrible suggestion'. Its a minor difference in opinion. All he and op want are a simple Quality of Life fix so that everyone doesn't have to do the exact same things. Some teams have players who only build or farm, some only loot, some only fight. Why does everyone have to read every single random page, of which there are so so many, to fill out their crafting list.
To start, I'm Not against adding the option to allow players to share recipes.

But in answer of your comment, Why does every person need to read every random page when they only do certain things? Why does the farmer need to learn to craft weapons, when the weapon smith does it better? Why does the weapon smith need the recipe for seeds? Why does the cook need to know how to make vehicles?

It's co-op; Divide the tasks and conquer. What purpose is served by every player knowing every recipe? The closest it comes is for food, drink, and medicine recipes as the cook may not be readily available to make food when it's needed- But the cook should also be making enough food for the team on his own time anyway that it should rarely be an issue.

But for weapons, and vehicles and the like, only one player in the group needs the recipe; and typically each one is only crafted once for each player of the team: EG: making a motorcycle one per member of the team.
