Maybe the game isn’t able to render those nonstandard gothic-style characters in your name? I’ve seen that happen in other Steam games.

It's why people with non-ASCII characters are blocked from joining a lot of servers.
I honestly don't know why Steam even allows it, given the amount of trouble it can cause.
