I can’t think of what you’re referencing, but it’s unlikely they’d do that intentionally. They already had to change the main menu music because it was too similar to that of a well-known zombie film.

Correct. It was pretty obvious if you heard it. To be clear, what you hear now is different.

Can you link the old 7dtd music? I want to see how similar 28 days and the old menu music is.

It's funny, the music tones in the background are also very similar to a song by Ayumi Hamasaki.

You would be in a position to know, but I've also read that the menu music was changed because although TFP had licensed it for the game, youtubers who posted gameplay videos which included it were getting copyright claims, and so TFP changed it basically for them and better PR. Even now if you do find the music on youtube, the ad revenue goes to the studio, not the youtuber. Personally I would say there were vague similarities to the 28 days theme, but not enough to confuse people it was the same. But apparently many people were/are.

Edit: read about this in comments from a popular 7DtD youtuber who likely would have gotten such a claim.

That would not surprise me at all. Not to derail the thread, but Twitch has the same problem, as evidenced last weekend at BlizzCon. Metallica, who Activison/Blizzard paid to perform their music live for the event, was dubbed over with royalty-free music.

So, arguably the biggest names in the recording and gaming industries respectively, and they still can’t figure out how to do this.
