What? OK I didn't catch that the new base-level blocks will have the same strength as the upgraded versions. Well that was really my only complaint, so I guess I'm OK with it... But still, I did kinda like the feeling of progress while upgrading within tiers but I'm not gonna judge on mah feelz.
What does material streamlining have anything to do with this game "becoming a FPS arcade game"??
When I buld a base I want immediately to build it with the best material I can afford at the moment: that does not change. In A19 you start with Flagstone? Well, in A20 you'll start directly with Cobblestone or Wood maybe. But the new wood will have the same HP as A19's reinforced wood, so.
You no longer have to think about whether your wall is going to be breached if your block reaches 0 hp, or if it will downgrade; All materials are now equal, and all will break if inadequately repaired.
As for material Types in design, That's what paint is and has always been for.
And of course, Let's not latch onto "Omg, we're losing all our options!" because we're getting a shape menu that lets us build with basically every shape in the game; Something builders have been creaming their pants at the thought of and begging for for a dozen alphas.
Builders aren't screwed; They're better off than ever. No more creative mode needed to get that shape you want- IT's at your fingertips now, in any material; not just rebar frames.
It's easier to build, It's more rewarding to build, You've got over a thousand shape options for building instead of what, 25? Maybe 50 if you're building in rebar frames? It's easier to maintain, There's no confusing wet concrete steps (Which yes, For a veteran is no longer confusion; But we regularly have newbies coming through baffled as to why upgrading their concrete made it wet again, which was the stage before the concrete.)
It's streamlined; yes. But the things removed ultimately did not make a significant difference to a builder, And the things added DO make a significant difference to a builder.
