Actually not an exploit. This is an intended feature. They designed that to happen on purpose.

How so? What's the purpose?

I always thought it was for MP servers, where people can log in at any time. So if someone logs in the middle of blood moon, they get a full blood moon. In other words - if they didn't do this, and you logged out for a mere 10 seconds at the start of blood moon and logged back in at 10:00.10 pm, then you will have skipped the entire blood moon by being gone for 10 seconds.

Although there may be other reasons as well.

Right. The purpose wasn’t to implement a feature where you can trigger extra hordes if you want. That’s just a side effect. The purpose was to fix the opposite exploit, where horde night passes with no horde. To call making the game harder on yourself an exploit... well it seems weird to me, but gamestage is the great equalizer and I guess I shouldn’t split hairs.
