I’m no expert on the Aliens franchise, but… what?

Her skin isn’t black. It isn’t chitinous. Her skull isn’t elongated. She has no tail. Her blood is red. She has human-style digits and limbs. She wears clothes. She’ll still walk on the ground, not on the ceiling. She doesn’t even appear to have a second, inner set of jaws. Really, from the neck down she’s as human as any zombie.

So I think your Xenomorph comparison is wildly inaccurate. She has a mutated mouth and teeth. That’s it. It makes sense for a zombie whose mutant ability is screaming, does it not?

And she’s not designed for jump scares. She spawns far away, she makes noise while she’s coming, and she’s the one type of zombie that isn’t triggered by your presence directly. If they wanted to design zombies for jump scares, surely it would be the sleepers: the ones hiding in all the monster closets in POIs, which she never is.

What’s your real objection here? That the design seems uninspired, resembling a well known horror movie character? Because the old design looked way closer to the girl from The Ring than this looks like a Xenomorph. You know, that movie where characters famously die in seven days? If one cares about the originality of the Screamer, surely she’s in better shape on that front than she was before.

No need to wonder. The devs have been vocal that the new zombies are being made to perform better than the old ones. That’s a major driving factor in why they consider it worthwhile to redo them. HD zombies might mean more zombies overall.
