(disable EAC)
Disabling EAC does not help. It still connects.

How?
Check your own logs with EAC disabled you will still find it doing a login to EOS. Further, if you block network access to EOS servers, then you will not be able to even get to the main menu unless you have Steam in offline mode.

You might disable EOS in the config file for crossplatform.

Edit platform.cfg to change crossplatform=EOS to crossplatform=

Be aware though that this will change your base character file on your saves and any servers you played on before changing this setting.

It will most likely also prevent you from participating in any further cross-platform multiplayer activities, like when they release the next console version.

And you aren't forced to "run through EOS", it's just a new protocol to support future cross-platform play. Could be with Epic, could be with other things.

And in case you weren't already aware, Epic is who owns EAC. So you've been using their service for years already.

Dropping this here, since apparently reading the Patch Notes is hard for some people

Server Administration and Multiplayer To future-proof our game, including allowing us to use the latest anti-cheat and expanding to other platforms later on for future crossplay capabilities, we added Epic Online Services (EOS) to the game. For regular players this should not have any noticeable effect, you do NOT need an account on Epics platforms. EOS only knows your SteamID which is public anyway and matches that to an ID for EOS that is only valid for 7 Days to Die.
