You have the steel, But, you don't have the infrastructure, machines, and tools required to fabricate tiny ultra-precise parts. You have a backyard forge and a workbench with a few non-power tools.

That said, I do wish there were a way to obtain parts more consistently. (Also i dont think the wooden bow, specifically, should require parts. . .)

The thing is, all weapons are now part of a comprehensive setup. If you start saying rifle parts shouldn’t be craftable but bow parts should, you’re favoring one character build and weapon specialty over another.

Be glad that there’s only one type of parts per weapon class now. It used to be that if you wanted the revolver, you had to specifically find a revolver stock, revolver receiver, and revolver barrel.

Where you had to have a barrel, grip, frame, stock etc. it took way to much space and if you like to be organized like me, thats a lot more chest/crates to make to keep individual parts in and more resources to waste just for that.
The present modding system also conflicts with the spaces that used to be for the gun parts that you're talking about. So the two systems are incompatible- And imo, i prefer the weapon mods.

tbf guns are more favorable over bows in any case and I don't see that changing.

I disagree. I can go through a Tier V building using my compound crossbow as my only ranged weapon if I want to. I wouldn’t say bows are equally good in all situations - nor should any weapon be - but I like that they have a designated attribute/skill tree like other weapons. It feels balanced now, like they’ve been brought into the fold instead of being a one-off.
