Entirely arguable, and honestly more based upon your chosen skill tree- If you're heavy into perception, Marksman rifle should win out, as the Dead Eye perk is the one that affects sniper rifle weapons. Likewise, if you're heavy in the Fortitude tree, you'd pick the AK due to the Machine Gunner perk affecting assault rifles. In either case, the main stat itself bolsters the effects of the gun, so even if you don't have the specific perk, just the stat alone boosts efficiency.

If you're speaking strictly and purely about ammo conservation, Then, Sniper rifle weapons (Hunting Rifle, Marksman Rifle, Sniper Rifle) would obviously win out- They fire slow, but, every shot if aimed well is likely to be a kill.

...But that slow firing is very important when you're being rushed by 8 zombies. Not having the option to fire from the hip, or pop out several shots in short order could get you killed.

In your specific situation, with 350 rounds and an imminent horde night..If you trust your base to keep the zombies away from you while you shoot, And your skills are conducive to the choice, Go with the marksman rifle. You'll kill more zombies with less bullets.

I speced enough into Machine Gunner to be able to build level 3 AKs. However, my perk selection is kind of a meme at this point and I'm all over the place as I went in fresh. Likewise for basically everything I'm doing but I'm not going to make a laundry list of what I've done wrong in my process of learning. However, despite the fact that I don't think I have any points into rifleman, I think I'll go with the marksman rifle just due to the fact that I've gone through all my brass and gunpowder and I'd like to save a few rounds for hunting. Thank you for the help though, I didn't know perks affected weapons that much, just thought it was mainly the crafting unlocks
Yeah, There's a reason the crafting unlock and quality increase are listed later in the descriptions of the weapon perks. :) The recipes and quality increase are the secondary effect, the weapon damage and special effects granted are the primary ones.
