Hey everyone!

I recently have been having issues with my PS4 controller while playing Assassin's Creed Valhalla on my PC.
I play with the controller plugged in. Every once in a while, the controller symbols on screen will flash to the PC controls, but that is just because of the cord connection to my controller, it doesn't affect gameplay. When I first got the game, I do not believe there was controller support for wireless with the PS4 controller so I just used it plugged in which didn't bother me.
Recently, my left joystick moves Eivor but the camera also moves the direction I move the joystick and the right joystick is super choppy and isn't working as it should. It is continuously flashing to the PC controls on the screen as well. I tried unplugging the controller to try wireless but it only moves the camera around, nothing else. This is making the game unplayable 😞

I tried:

  • hard resetting the controller with the button on the back
  • restarting the game
  • reconfiguring the controller via Steam (I realized that probably wouldn't work as the game is through Ubisoft, but I don't see where I can do any controller configuration with Ubisoft)
  • checking the cleanliness of the controller - very clean with no dust or food or anything

I am afraid to uninstall the game and reinstall it as I do not want to lose my progress - unless there is a way to avoid that while uninstalling/reinstalling?

I am not very good at troubleshooting and computer stuff so I am not really sure what to do so any help would be appreciated!!

Thanks!!

Hi @merk-tha-jerk I'm sorry to hear that you are experiencing issues with your PS4 controller on PC.

First of all could you ensure that the only USB devices you have plugged in are your PS4 controller, mouse and keyboard.

Could you also take a look at the PC troubleshooting article and run through all the steps listed then try again. The support article contains some of the most common fixes for crashes, freezing, FPS drops and more.

If the issue persists I would recommend looking at using a virtual emulator for your PS4 controller rather than using Steam to see if that helps.

@merk-tha-jerk I'm sorry to hear that the issue persists. I know that DS4 is a popular emulator that PC players use when using a PS4 controller.

Do you have a wired mouse that you could plug in to see if that makes any difference? If so could you please try using it.

Also if you have got another PS4 controller could you try using that too.
