[2022] Epic Games launcher / reinstall right after first time downloading

I bought the game via the Epic Games launcher and downloaded it. Now it prompts me to reinstall it. I searched and found that a new update occured in december that made everyone reinstall and I get that this is a good thing.

What im asking is:

Is this only a problem when downloading through the Epic Games launcher? If I had bought the game directly from ubiSoft, would this not have been a problem?

Really think Epic and ubiSoft should have a better communication about this, not really fun to have 11+ hours in download before even beeing able to play the game - the latest update should be standard at a first download right after said patch release, no matter from which platform.

Sitting here with ADSL and whatcing the 5+h long download slowly tic down again.........

I understand you are not happy that you were required to reinstall the full game while installing the Title Update 1.4.1.

As part of a data restructuring, players had to reinstall the game files, resulting in overall smaller file size, faster loading screen times & improved performance. So the answer to your question is that it did not happen because you purchased the game from Epic Games Store. You would have to reinstall the game even if you would have purchased it from Ubisoft Store.
We apologize if it caused any inconvenience but as I've mentioned above the file sizes decreased and the game performance improved with this reinstall.
