Edit: as of 6/9/2021 6:34 AM EST - I received an email from SBI saying that my account has be reactivated. According to Customer Support I was banned due to being caught in some crossfire of some questionable trades. I truly hope that SBI eventually fine tunes their system to have 1000000% accuracy because, NGL I was pretty tilted getting banned for no fault of my own. And I have no doubts that this can happen to anybody.

I really shouldn't have to wait more than two weeks to get a reply or have to make a reddit thread to get my false-positive-ban case looked at... The power of reddit I guess - It's also really worrying that there may be others like myself and my friend (who uh, is still banned I think). I implore you all to be careful and really use your brains while SBI irons out the kinks in their detection system.

I don't know if this thread will set some sort of precedence for future ban cases, but it's up to SBI to figure things out. If the average joe gets banned and has no voice then it'd be super unfair for him/her to have sit around and suffer.

Anyways, thanks for the support guys, I appreciate all of you for lending me your voices. Remember to be careful out there ingame and in IRL.

Shoutouts to u/AOChristoph for taking the precious time to help out, and thank you Evelyn from CS for the quick work.

Edit #2: My buddy and another fellow who posted on this thread have also been unbanned as of 6/9/2021 11:23 AM EST.

Scroll to bottom for TLDR.

On May 25th 2021 I was banned for TPCT (Third-Party Currency Transaction or RMT for short). I was super confused because I knew for a fact that I did not RMT (yes we’ve all seen and heard about the stories of people claiming innocence but hear me out).

At first I thought it was because I ran a small, casual 20 vs 20s team (dead content btw) and if you were to look into my trade logs you’d be able to see various types of gear being handed out to the participants (nothing major max T4-6.2). All of these trades would take place close to the crystal timer and the participant would be in the same crystal with me. This can all be easily verified via cross referencing info on the battleboards. Surely I wouldn’t get banned for handing out a 4.1 judi armor to a tank and a T6 Blight staff to a healer right?

So I did what any normal sensible human being would do after getting banned, and I wrote a succinct email asking SBI what’s up.

Fast forward 6 hours later my close friend who I’ve known for many years told me that he was also banned for RMT. So I thought about it and it dawned on me that this was no coincidence.

Him and I had a silver exchange and this was probably what tipped the “new warden system” (the new system that SBI implemented that has been mass banning a lot of innocent people, more on this later).

A few weeks before May 25th my buddy asked me for a loan of 20m silver, I said yeah sure no problem - he wasn’t home at the time so I left it on a guild island for him to grab, all fine and dandy. A week or so later he pays me back the same amount (20m) through the same island. We thought nothing of it and continued on with our lives.

Now if you were an SBI employee and actually “investigated” this trade you would see that

There’s no negative or positive balance between the two accounts, so how could it possibly be RMT? (+ and - 20m silver) It’s between two people who have had a very long history together on this game (since beta). And if you can’t take my word for it then you can see us both on the same battleboard for about 3 months straight.

It’s painfully obvious that we’re innocent.

On top of being banned for absolutely no reason It’s been two weeks and I still haven’t received a response, not a copypasta terms of service reply, not a “oh hey we’re looking into it we’ll get back to you later”, nothing. So that’s why I’m writing this on reddit to garner attention.

I’m all for banning people who commit credit card fraud and the like, but blanket banning people and not even giving a single response in two weeks is absurd. Especially when SBI is replying and unbanning other innocent people who have also been BLANKET banned. One being the GM of a particularly popular guild, another being a splendid lad who got unbanned in 40 minutes and various others.

The people who were unbanned probably (definitely) have connections to SBI - that’s fine and I understand that’s how the world works. It’s all about who you know. But it’s been two f*cking weeks and I can’t even get an automated reply. What about all the other plebs who don’t have any association with SBI employees? Are we supposed to sit around like vegetables and hope for the best?

The biggest takeaway from all of this is that this sh*t can happen to you too. I don’t see what the point of allowing player to player trading if SBI is just going to f*cking ban legit players for no reason. Think about it, what’s to stop a goldseller or a ban evader from going around Lymhurst handing out silver to random innocent players and getting them banned? Is doing completely normal trades out of the question now or what? How the f*ck are people supposed to know who’s “sus” and who’s not? What the actual f*ck is even going on? This kind of sh*t genuinely hurts the game.

TLDR - Got banned by SBI, they won’t even reply back after 2 full weeks when they claim they’ll respond within “48 hours” lol, meanwhile others are getting unbanned less than an hour. Be careful trading, you probably shouldn’t do face to face or even island trades because you’ll just get hammered for no reason. And if you do happen to get banned and you happen to be a no-namer like myself then good f*cking luck. I know this is shameless but please upvote the thread, even if you don’t believe me, maybe at the very least you’ll get an “OSRS J-mod smackdown” for your own entertainment (I’ll take anything at this point).

If you DM me your ticket number / charactername, I'll have it looked at. No reply after 2 weeks is... uncommon to say the least.
