Among Us

Among Us Dev Tracker

23 Sep

Hey everyone, PuffballsUnited here! It’s been a very exciting time for us the past few months! We’ve absolutely loved seeing everyone enjoying Among Us! Forte has been working hard to get the servers adjusted to deal with the huge influx of players. Thank you so much for bearing with us through these growing pains. Hopefully we can get started on new content soon! Speaking of new content…

Us devs have had several long discussions about what we want to do with the game. When do we stop working on Among Us 1? What content goes into Among Us 2? The main reason we are shooting for a sequel is because the codebase of Among Us 1 is so outdated and not built to support adding so much new content. However, seeing how many people are enjoying Among Us 1 really makes us want to be able to support the game and take it to the next level. We have decided to cancel Among Us 2 and instead put all our focus into improving Among Us 1. All of the content we had planned for Among Us 2... Read more

This shouldn't be a problem for Steam users, since steam updates automatically, but if you are not on v2020.9.9, you will not be able to play Among Us online soon.

If you are currently in a room, it will still work, but you will not be able to join or create any new rooms. You must update to v2020.9.9.

If you get incorrect version errors, please make sure you are on version 2020.9.9 (visible in the upper left on the main menu)

Edit: This should no longer be an issue in 2020.9.9

There is a bug where if you change regions while connecting, the game may overwrite your region data with the wrong region. This makes you connect to the wrong region later. It can easily cause room codes to not be found. You can fix this by deleting the serverInfo2 file found at

%appdata%\..\LocalLow\Innersloth\Among Us

Then restart Among Us.

Edit: This had a rough roll out, but should be better now. It is no longer beta.

Hey all,

So I put out this post a few days ago, and have been working on server fixes. As a result, things have been smoothing out even above 1M players in NA. But now I need to put in longer room codes to really reduce the load, so beta branch has v2020.9.9 (or newer if we find bugs) which can handle 4 or 6 digit codes.

2020.9.9 can join 2020.9.1 rooms, but if 2020.9.9 creates a room, it should always get a 6 digit room code. 2020.9.1 cannot join ... Read more
